Measuring ahead and stayed ahead on scans?

Had a scan this morning by LMP I should have been 8 weeks exactly, baby measured 8 weeks and 3 days! Which was a shock! In previous pregnancies I've only ever measured behind!

Has anyone measured ahead their dates and then stayed ahead for the 12 week scan??

It's only 3 days difference, they're all just estimates anyway, they often vary by a few days, not a big deal.

At this stage, you can measure 5 days behind or ahead and it's not usually a worry.

The measurements are so tiny, it's hard to be accurate from a scan.

Also, you may have implanted a day or two before you think.

I measured a few days ahead at 11 weeks but baby came at 41+2!

At my 7 and 9 week scans I measured bang on my dates then at my 12 week scan they measured me 5 days ahead. I know I couldn’t have gotten pregnant earlier because there was no sperm present, even if I ovulated earlier than I thought and I know I didn’t because I also had a fertility ultrasound right before my estimated ovulation and no erupted follicle was detected, only one that was ready to in a couple of days, which matches up with my positive ovulation test.
My baby has stuck to the hospital’s 12-week dates sometimes measuring a full week ahead at every scan since (I’m now 36 weeks).
As long as baby is growing along the same trajectory, it doesn’t really matter and I was told scans can also be out by 5 days either side anyway.

@Pizzaandsushi I'm not worried in the slightest of it measuring ahead, just more shocked! I've never had a pregnancy measure ahead! Haha always measured behind! Just would like it stay at its great growing!

Like you I only had sex once so the dates don't make up for the extra 3 days but since this was a surprise baby in the first place, I should expect surprises all along haha

@EllieJai44 ahh I get ya! Yes I can see how that would be a shock!
I must admit even now, I still overthink about the fact he’s measuring a week ahead and get myself a bit worked up with all the what-ifs if that were to suddenly change but then try and remember scans aren’t completely accurate and baby could have just had a growth spurt then calmed down. These babies just want to do whatever they fancy really don’t they, like pregnancy isn’t stressful enough 😂.

I don't understand the measurements and dates thing as when I was pregnant by "12" weeks I was a week ahead and by "20" weeks I was 2 weeks (in total) ahead.
There's no way on earth that I could have been 2 weeks ahead, unless I had a miraculous conception 😂 either way he was born healthy at 39 weeks.

I guess there's no need to worry as long as everything is developing and your pregnancy is running smoothly.

I measured ahead by 5 days on both my pregnancies - with My twins my bigger one measured 5 days ahead but little one 5 days behind - they still calculated the due date at the 12 week based on the bigger one

Yeah it's strange, i am 6 days ahead on scans (36 weeks now). But i know exact date we had sex so if anything, i am AT LEAST 6 days if not more, less pregnant than all scans have said 😄
So will 100% be refusing inductions based on scan dates if i go over.
