Hi,
I am expecting my first child and had an early scan at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat. I have another scan scheduled at 8 weeks but I'm worried it will be bad news. Has anyone else experienced not seeing a heartbeat at a later scan when the pregnancy has been viable earlier on. Thanks x

Hi, I didn't want to read and run.

This is my fear too as I'm 39, overweight with pcos and endometriosis. I've had several scans, I'm almost 9 weeks on Sunday and I'm going for another scan tomorrow (privately).

I have this same fear, each scan I think the heartbeat will be no more. Each day our chance of miscarriage is reducing so I'm trying to tell myself that

Hi, thanks for your response! I have PCOS and endometriosis too. I had a laparoscopy in November and got pregnant in December and I think this is where a lot of my fear stems from; it seems too good to be true! I have my 8 week scan on Thursday (private). I don’t have many pregnancy symptoms either so this is making it more stressful!

I saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks and then had my 12 week scan and no heartbeat was detected (missed miscarriage). I really dislike private (non medical) scans - I know they help some but at a medical scan you have access to medical and emotional support. The thought of getting bad news in one of those horrible window to the womb type places on a random high street means I'd never, ever, have a scan there.

I'm so sorry you experienced the missed miscarriage. That's my worry about having a mmc. I would rather know if it happens and not find out at my 12 week scan. Bring pregnant for me is a miracle after trying on and off for 20 years.

I didn't want to read and run. This is my fear too, I'm 40yo. Blessings to all x

I think if you're really anxious you should go and be seen at the EPU, OP.

Yes, I have had that twice unfortunately.

It could happen but the likelihood is more likely it won't. That said, I feel I'm the unlucky one who it'll happen too

Unfortunately this happened to me.
Scan at 6 weeks - heartbeat and everything fine.
Then had a private scan around 11 weeks and found out there was no heartbeat and had stopped growing at 7 weeks.

I was one of those people who got this awful unexpected news in a scan plan on a high street.

The support was awful, basically got left and then really, really struggled to get help and support from NHS. Took 2 days of phoning and sobbing on the phone to random people to actually get help.

The good news is that I'm pregnant again now, currently 11 weeks and I'm just praying everything is good this time. My symptoms have been different this time around, so I think things really weren't right last time.

Wishing you all the luck x x
