Tachycardia in pregnancy

I'm 27 weeks pregnant, second pregnancy, and 24 years old and after having a high heart rate have been referred for a echocardiogram which I had earlier today, my heart is tachycardia and is pretty much like this all the time. I have had a high heart rate before pregnancy but it was never looked into. I eat and drink plenty.

The highest it got was 153bpm and that was just from getting ready in the morning. I am seeing my consultant next week but just wondered if anyone else had any experience like this ?

I feel tired and spaced out a lot this pregnancy and sometimes feel like I have to take more breaths then usual. I get headaches but there not servers more like a dull ache.

I constantly can feel my heart pounding and can feel it all over my body, I can see my stomach and chest area pounding away really hard if I watch it at times it's so bizarre.

Any ideas would be much appreciated
Thanks

I was diagnosed with supra-ventricle tachycardia a few years ago so similar to you. I was no absolutely no caffeine, no chocolate, no alcohol which I guess you're probably already doing. I'm waiting to see what my consultant has to say too.

Ask them to check your magnesium levels (its a blood test). Its often low in people and pregnancy makes it worse. Lack of magnesium can cause arrthymias. Also ask to have your thyroid levels checked. Too much thyroid can make you spacy and heart race.

I never had any heart problems that I was aware of until my 4th pregnancy when I suddenly felt a bit breathless going downstairs. Pulse rate was about 180. Went to GP, etc etc - I had (have) Wolffe Parkinson White syndrome which is due to an extra pathway in the heart. Seems it had always been there but the stress of pregnancy tipped the scales. No treatment except to rest when it occurred and I’ve had very few episodes since.

Not with my first baby, no. Everyone was completely uninterested. Second baby and a different trust and it's part of the reason I've been referred to a consultant.... 🤷

That sounds exactly like my situation, with my frost it was always dismissed and was definitely no where near as bad as it is this time around. Good luck with your consultant referral hope everything works out for you.

And you too.

Yes this happened to me also during my 3rd pregnancy it was picked up in labour when my resting heart rate was 140, with my 4th pregnancy it happened again but sooner so I went to my gp, after some tests at the hospital scans and ecgs I was diagnosed with SVT (super ventricular tachycardia) my highest heart rate ever recorded was 215bpm, I felt like I was about to die when it was that fast! But it would happen each day in later pregnancy it was awful I was so breathless and it could last an hour or so and I’d have to lay down on my left side until it passed. I get inductions at 38 weeks because it gets so bad at the very end

Just wondering if anyone has experienced low platelets in pregnancy. I'm 13 weeks and they are currently at 92, gone up from 81 from my first bloods. Anyone else had this? Did yours improve? Did you get referred? Panicking over here Confused

I have just been diagnosed with tachycardia @mummyaieey having never had problems before (even in pregnancy) all my symptoms are very similar to yours. Things kicked off before Christmas with high blood pressure and a nose bleed and I was put on blood pressure meds (amlodipine) then I saw the consultant this week after an Echocardiogram and Holtor monitor and he put me on bisprolol (beta blocker) for my tachycardia. Sad

Starrr123 · 29/03/2023 23:15

@apprenticewage how are u now ? Was u taking bisoprolol whilst pregnant and did it help x

Hello! Anybody who was in the situation, please can you tell me if it resolved after birth?
