Labetalol?

Hey ladies.
I am just here for some advice. I had my baby 6 weeks ago today via C-section. 2 nights after my blood pressure was high and they sent the doctor upto me and she gave me some labetalol to bring it down and I was on 15 minute testing for an hour.
Anyway, it came down and that was that but my pulse was pretty consistent around 130 but did come down to sort of 109/112.
I had my baby 21/12/21 and was discharged 24/12
I also had low iron so I had an infusion but I had to go back 1 week later for another one, so New Year’s Eve I went back for my second 15 minute infusion and I was kept in, blood pressure scarily high which I had 3 lots of meds to bring it down.
Back onto maternity ward I was admitted for one night and discharged the next day with labetalol to take 3 times a day with regular blood pressure checks from my gp which have all been ok so I’ve been reduced to 2 tablets a day now with another check on Friday and if all ok probably reduce again to one tablet a day. My question is has anybody had this happen and had to go back on them for longer?

Yes, I had pre-eclampsia with my DS and was on Labetalol for about 6 weeks after birth. It's completely normal until your BP stabilises. Your body has been through so much, just needs a little helping hand.
Congrats too! ♥️

Hi, congratulations on your little one. Yes I was admitted back to hospital when my little boy was 5 days old with scarily high blood pressure (and i usually always have very low blood pressure- around 90/60) I was in 2 nights then on the tablets with monitoring for about 4 weeks but all went back to normal. My son is now 10 months old and my bp sits around 110/70. Feel better soon xxx

Hi there,

This is the first thread I’ve seen that really mirrors my experience! I too ended up in hosp for 2 nights just 5 days after my little boy was born (this was in June) and have been on Labetalol ever since. Started with 200mg twice daily, then down to 100mg twice daily, now I’m moving to 50mg twice daily. Each time I’ve reduced the dose I’ve felt waves of anxiety for a few days, which is awful. It comes and goes but it’s definitely unnerving! Have any of you experienced this?

I never ever had BP issues before so have struggled with this over the last 12 weeks! x
