Can't stop worrying- upcoming scan

Anyone have a love/hate relationships with early scans lol

I have early scans due to previous miscarriages- had one at 6 weeks and saw heartbeat which is great- have another scan this Thursday when I'll be 8 weeks but I'm dreading it! Hoping things haven't gone wrong- I like having the scans for reassurance but hate the build up and worry!

This is me also!
I had a scan last week and was 5w1d I felt physically sick leading up to it thinking there would be nothing there and if imagined it all. But I was told everything was in the right place and my notes say single live intrauterine pregnancy. I have my follow up scan next Wednesday when I should be 7w 1d and I'm so nervous for it. I can't get excited about the baby because I constantly think somethings wrong or I've had mmc :(

Hope the anxiety goes away soon so I can enjoy my pregnancy!

Cakecakecheese · 31/01/2022 21:05

Oh yes scanxiety is real. I had a scan at 7 weeks and, as I'd had an MMC before, I was utterly convinced it was bad news. It wasn't. I've got my 12 week scan next week and I still haven't shaken that feeling. Good luck.

wingingit33 · 31/01/2022 21:08

I had a mmc December 2020. Fell pregnant again in June and had weekly scans from 6-12 weeks because I was so anxious. I'm 35+3 now and done being pregnant!!

So sorry for your previous loss :( It's such a nerve-wracking wait isn't it! I was convinced when I went for my early scan last week that they'd just say there was nothing there. I was literally shaking going in! I'll be the same next week. I was never like this when I had my daughter 7 years ago but I also didn't find out I was pregnant with her until 12 weeks.

With this one, we've been trying for 4 years and I think I'm still a bit shocked that it's finally happening.

loves2plan · 31/01/2022 21:19

This is exactly the same as me. Went for an early scan last week thinking I was 7 weeks but she couldn't see anything (makes sense because I do have long cycles so dates are likely wrong). Going back two weeks on Thursday and I'm just constantly worrying about what may or may not happen when we go. Hopefully all will be fine but I wish I could shake the dread.

This is what's causing my anxiety, I've had 3 miscarriages but the last one I had (Jan 2020) I had a private scan at 10 weeks and was a mmc that had stopped at 9w 3d...dreading the same thing will happen again! I have the scan on Thursday and all being well I will definitely be asking for another at 10 weeks, luckily it's with my EPU so I'm not paying!

Hey OP,

I will be exactly the same when it comes to scans. I have had two previous MC's around the 6/7 week mark. I know I am going to get booked in with the midwife asap if i get my BFP. Currently 12DPO according to Flo and so trying to hold out to test. Although my cycles are all over the place and so who knows.

However, having all the same symptoms I had with both my previous pregnancy's. So am hopeful

EllieJai44 · 31/01/2022 22:48

@Gillseybear good luck for those BFPs!! Keep us updated! I haven't registered with midwives yet, just been going to EPU

I'm terrified. Just had a ten week one and saw them wriggling but still so scared for thirteen weeks

MrsRosaline · 31/01/2022 22:53

@EllieJai44 congratulations on your pregnancy. I've just had two miscarriages, so it's nice to see that there is hope. Hope your scan all goes well.

Thank you very much and I will defo keep you guys updated on what's happening.

EllieJai44 · 01/02/2022 05:17

@MrsRosaline I'm sorry for your losses :( miscarriages/ losses are imo the hardest thing to deal with. You have to always have hope otherwise it will consume you! I hope that you will get another BFP soon and go on to have a healthy pregnancy!! Xx

Meeeeee!! Had an early one on Monday and had 3 panic attacks as I was made to sit in the waiting room where I'd sat waiting so many times before and had received bad news. Never in almost 3 years and about 30 scans have I had a positive experience. Luckily things looked 'normal' Monday but it's still early days (7 weeks tomorrow).

Constant struggle of needing a scan to know what's going on in there but not wanting to actually endure it. Eugh 😫

EllieJai44 · 02/02/2022 20:54

@Frankincense88 did you see a heartbeat?? I have my follow up scan tomorrow and even though I have seen a heartbeat already I'm so worried there won't be one tomorrow Confused

Hey
I have only just seen this sorry today has been a bit of a head f**k of a day and my body is messing me around, so stuck in limbo as to what's going on. Hoping the next day or two yields some answers.
Anyway thank you so much, they sucked at the time but I have learned to cope with it now. Things are still hard though especially as so many people I know are having children and I might never get that because I have endometriosis.

We did thankfully. (Hence the third panic attack due to sheer relief). Even so, it doesn't guarantee a thing. As horrible as it is waiting after an early loss and a loss at 20 weeks I'm just trying my best to roll with it as worrying myself sick and 'making it to 12 weeks' meant absolutely nothing last time.

I've got everything crossed for you xx

theotherfossilsister · 02/02/2022 21:14

I've just booked a private scan (again) for twelve weeks as the nhs appointment is so far away. I feel mad but my fear is intense

EllieJai44 · 02/02/2022 21:49

@theotherfossilsister you should have a NHS scan at 12 weeks though? Or did they schedule you for 13 weeks?

I've paid for so many private scans, I'm grateful that the EPU are giving me scans as I would have had loads by now lol

OP posts:
theotherfossilsister · 03/02/2022 10:21

They scheduled me for twelve weeks six days. I know it seems mad to have booked the other scan

EllieJai44 · 03/02/2022 14:06

I had my scan this morning and was supposed to be 8 weeks exactly but baby measured 8 weeks and 3 days!!

This is brilliant news.

I dread early scans too after previous losses... I had an early scan last Friday and actually bumped my car parking because I was so distractedBlushThank God DH gets it!

All was good though - strong heartbeat. But doesn't stop me dreading the next one already

EllieJai44 · 03/02/2022 15:54

@MiloDND16
Even though I've had this one today I'm still worried about next one haha I have another in 2 weeks! Glad my EPU are scanning me wvery 2 weeks till the 12 week scan!
