I'm in v early pg with my second child but my stomach is already enormous?? At first I was worried something was wrong but not had any pain or signs.. Am now thinking it may not be only one baby???? Have all the normal things as well - aching boobs, backache and absolutely exhausted as well!! No sickness yet...

Anyone had similar thing???

Just wanted to bump (excuse pun) for you. No experience of this but guess if its your second pregnancy you shouldnt be too worried. I didnt show for ages but know other mums who have very early. If you are worried, hun, go to doctors tomorrow. Sorry I cannot be of any more help.

kindersurprise · 30/12/2007 01:04

I showed early in both my successful pregnancies. I had 2 m/c before and the midwife told me that the tissues had all been "loosened" due to the previous pregnancies.

When I was pregnant with DS I was into maternity clothes before 10weeks (trousers anyway, they were too uncomfortable)

Are there any twins in your family?

onlygirlinthehouse · 30/12/2007 01:09

was big very early on with all 3 of mine, my dad was a twin so convinced i was having twins every time, but never did! just fairly big babies. Think you show earlier with subsiquent pregnancys anyway, but also some women show more than others. I was wearing maternity clothes by 8 wks with last one!

fortyplus · 30/12/2007 01:11

I have similar... but I'm nearly 47 and haven't been pg for 12.5 years! Mine is due to overindulgence at Christmas

Magdeltwinkle · 30/12/2007 01:14

Fortyplus, are you really pg at 47? Good for you and good luck. How many other DC's do you have?

fortyplus · 30/12/2007 01:18

NO NO NO!!! You didn't read my post properly! I was just having a joke about my expanding waistline over the past couple of weeks!

But I do know 3 people who have fallen pg at 46, so be warned!

Magdeltwinkle · 30/12/2007 01:26

Sorry, I should read properly. I did see the Christmas thing and thought it was a bit soon to know. I was lucky had a flu bug over xmas so no weight gain. Just thought you were a lucky lady with about ten kids and one on the way. Wouldnt you love it though?

fortyplus · 30/12/2007 01:28

I would stick my head in the oven then slit my wrists just to make sure!

Magdeltwinkle · 30/12/2007 01:31

Ha. You dont mean that, after all if we hated being mums we wouldnt look at this site

fortyplus · 30/12/2007 01:39

I love being a mum, but mine are 14 and 12 so the thought of going back to nappies, sleepless nights, pushchairs etc makes me shudder! I expect I'll love it when I'm a Granny - my mum does even though she always swore she wouldn't!

Magdeltwinkle · 30/12/2007 01:48

My one is 13. Wish I could have had two, but now have to look forward to grandkids also. Just think its the best thing watching your kids grow. Guess I'm looking through rose tinted glasses atm. Its that new year sinking feeling. Want to do something with my life.

fortyplus · 30/12/2007 02:03

The thing that amazes me is that they're such smashing people. Really fun to be with most of the time. DS1's b-d was on Thurs and tonight we went out for a meal with a couple of his friends in tow and they were lovely. Really polite and amusing company, bless 'em!

Clarec22 · 30/12/2007 11:07

Thanks for the feedback everyone...

There are twins in my family yeah - guess thats why am thinking that.... Plus one of my best mates has 4 week old triplets and she is knackered bless her!!!

Have felt sick and had no appetite over xmas at all so isnt due to overeating sadly!! Haha!!

Thanks again...x

I have been unable to do up trousers since I was about 5/6 weeks (baby no3). Tummy got fat almost as soon as I found out I was pg! Am nearly 12 weeks now. Had a scan a week ago and it is just one baby (there are twins in family too). I just pile it on when pg .

orangehead · 30/12/2007 12:23

I was early showing with all my preg, could not fit in my normal jeans at 6 weeks. I think one factor is that I am quite short, so less room than someone tall. I also read that preg hormones can cause your bowel to swell slightly making you more bloated than usual.
Congrats

madmouse · 30/12/2007 12:24

Clare you could be bloated due to hormones slowing down bowels. Sorry if TMI.

Also, our stomachs always look biggest to us

I was in maternity trousers at 8 weeks this (my first) pregnancy and now at 36 weeks am measuring quite average.

lumpybumpymummy · 30/12/2007 12:28

bloating im pregnant with my third was huge at the start and it went down was just bloating

VictorianSqualor · 30/12/2007 12:44

I think there were about 5/6 people on my antenatal thread (due april 08) that were in maternity clothes by around 10/12 weeks, so I'd say it was pretty normal. We were all only having one baby too.

TwilightSurfer · 30/12/2007 12:58

I'm 7+1 and haven't been able to button jeans since 5+2. Much is due to bloating as GI tract's been a mess for weeks. This isn't my first pregnancy either so tummy's a bit quick to pooch I believe. I'd not worry if you're starting to show as it seems quite normal.

Clarec22 · 30/12/2007 14:10

I feel quite reassured now that all is normal!!

Thanks - its nice to hear from others going through the same!!

xx
