Can morning sickness stop after a week?

Hi, I'm 7wks PG after 2 MCs (march 12wks, July 8wks), have been feeling permanently sick for a week but tonight I feel fine - have even taken off the Sea bands have been wearing non-stop. I know I need to wait a couple of days really to see whether it comes back. It's hard not to think this is not a good sign so really wanted to know whether anyone else had had a similar experience? Thanks.

Hiya

It certainly can. With DD I was sick as a dog from week 6 - 7 then fine for two weeks, then very sick for two weeks, then fine for the rest of pregnancy.

What makes you sick is the high levels of hormones while you are waiting for the placenta to grow (the hormones sustain things till then). So once you get to say 8 weeks the placenta is kicking off anyway so it can get easier and every pregnancy is different.

Don't panic until you have something to panic about I say. FYI I used to do preg tests every few days when I was at this point because I panicked all the time but each line getting darker was v reassuring.

You probably won't relax though till you get to 13 weeks. I know I didn't relax till I got past the point where I'd miscarried both times. I'm only 9 weeks now but that extra week beyond where I was makes a huge difference.

Thank you. Will see how I feel tomorrow but am suitably reassured tonight. Thanks.

Hi
It can come and go all the time, just when you think you are feeling better bang your head is back down the loo.
Enjoy it while it lasts and have something nice to eat that you fancy.

Im 17weeks with DC3 and Im still silly enough to think its gone for good, I will never learn

Hi, I also had a mc in July and am now 22 weeks. I had ms for about a week before I got my bfp (this pregnancy) then at about 8 weeks the ms disappeared completely for about a fortnight. I actively wished for the ms to come back....silly, silly me, I got my wish and then some! The nausea finally went at about 16 weeks then reappeared a couple of weeks ago for several days and has gone again (fingers crossed!)

Congrats on your pregnancy

Thanks for the advice. Went to bed after I posted and threw up into the sink while dh was brushing his teeth (sorry if tmi). Ha ha, just have to keep the sea bands on! I had thought all symptoms had gone, but maybe not tired because sleeping about 12 hours a day atm. Boobs not as sore but still a pain! Thanks for your help.

Am 31 weeks pg. I got worried when MS disappeared for two days - but then it came back again! I still retch (sorry) if i brush my teeth too soon after eating.

It's funny how being sick/feeling queasy is quite a reassuring sign! . I quite often said to DH, "I feel better cos i feel queasy"!

Hope all goes well this time.

I'm 15 weeks pg tomorrow and felt sick for about a week (not being sick though) then it all stopped (metal taste too, everything), started bleeding slightly the next day, this was around 5/6 weeks. I've since had scan showing baby ok plus heard the heartbeat at 12 weeks and due to hear again in a week. Seems like things are fine, I'm just very lucky to not be suffering (although was suffering from worry as result).

i must say i was only sick 5 times with ds and never felt sick or tired or even pregnant lol so it is normal with dd and this time its hell lol

RachandFamousNot - the boobs stop hurting quite often about six weeks because your body just gets used to all the extra hormones sloshing about. Glad to hear you are back to your normal self!
