Braxton hicks or contractions?

I know everyone says when you have contractions you will know...

But generally, how will I know?

I'm experiencing a lot of painful Braxton hicks today, which are usually painless! My stomach feels hard almost constantly.

I'm not in loads of pain, but it's definitely uncomfortable - worried incase it's the start of things?

Defiantly not constipated or gas as these were my first thoughts too when I woke up.

C-section booked for Friday!

36+5 today, but was told with GD and too much amniotic fluid I may go into labour early...

Contractions are generally no longer than 60-90 seconds each and feel more like period pains to start with. So if it’s lasting longer than that it’s a BH

I had this the other night and was almost convinced I was in labour, I got a warm bath and they completely went so it was just BH but they did feel a lot more uncomfortable than the ones I've had before, I'm 36 weeks and FTM so every twinge I'm panicking it's labour!

Ah that's good to know, I will start roughly timing them!

All pain stopped when I ate a late lunch! I knew braxton hicks is worse when your dehydrated so I'd drunk so much in the morning which freaked me out when it didn't get better, but I didn't realise being hungry is just as bad! 😭

I still don't feel 100% - I have period like pains, so I just hope nothing happens until Friday! My section was originally booked in on Tuesday, but I requested a new date as my mums having major surgery Tuesday, so it will be typical that I'll go into labour on Tuesday 😫 fingers crossed I don't!
