period like bleed but now strong positives

Hi everyone, i posted a week or so about a very faint positive test. I then went on to bleed just like my period but only lasted 2/3 days instead of my usual 5/6. It wasn’t spotting and was red and heavy just like my period. I then suspected it was a chemical and a day or so later clear blue said not pregnant. Fast forward a week and i thought i’d test to check that all hormones have gone back to normal so that I could start tracking ovulation. Anyway i was shocked to see that the frer is now showing a much darker line?
Totally thrown me and I now i just don’t know what to think? Not really sure why i am posting but just wondered if anyone had been through similar?
planning on calling doctor on Monday but after a quick google (naughty i know) i am now worried it could be eptopic!!

I had a very heavy implantation bleed that last 4 days or so, convinced it was a late period (bright red, clots etc). Tested because it was shorter and also lots of brown, was absolutely shocked to get a positive test. No bleeding since and had my 12 week scan a few days ago, where all is so far looking good. Had nothing like this with my previous two, so imo anything goes, try and stay positive!

@Anotherboy thanks so much for replying. So pleased it all turned out good for you, you must have been so relieved after your 12 week scan. Did you have an early scan after the bleed?

The difference in the two tests. The much darker one was this evening and faint was 8 days ago. Argghh the not knowing is there hard part especially as we had a MC in November

Not any advice but I think I’m going through similar - had several positives last week (some faint, some ok but wouldn’t say any were super strong) and today have been bleeding but only like a very light period. Waiting to see if it keeps going or stops…preparing myself for it to be a chemical but interested if there’s a possibility it’s not!

This is very common with ectopic pregnancies OP (as you already know) if I were you, if you can get your hands on £80, I would wait until you think you are 6 weeks and book a private scan at window to the womb or similar just to rule it out. (Providing you don’t have any symptoms before then) EPU are fairly
Useless at this stage and unless you’re experiencing signs of ectopic, won’t scan you to check.

I’m saying all this, some people genuinely do have heavy implantation bleeds and you could well be one of them!! Keep positive, it’s entirely possible everything is absolutely fine but do keep an eye out for any signs of ectopic and if you get any symptoms,
Get yourself to A&E/ phone drs and ask for an EPU referral.

Keeping everything crossed for you!

thanks for your messages @toddlertired i hope it all works out for you.

Thank you @Simpkins04 I have emailed the doctor and will ring the EPU in the morning. I just don’t know what I am supposed to be looking out for symptoms wise? I know the shoulder tip pain but am i correct in thinking that by then it’s likely to have already ruptured? Have you had an eptopic before? They sound really scary.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/ectopic-pregnancy/

A lot of people have sharp, severe pain down one side and brown discharge, weird, very strong cramps etc. You can also feel v dizzy and sick (which is annoying as you do in early pregnancy in general)

Not me no but my best friend did and she had all these symptoms and ignored them all as she had no clue about ectopics and her’s ruptured, she was very lucky to not have come off worse (she lost a tube)

I would wait and see what EPU/ GP says. Please don’t stress though, there’s every chance that this pregnancy is viable, that is a strong line on your FRER which is a good sign!

A bit late - but what was the outcome of this? Experiencing something similar… If anyone sees this message 😅

ErrolFinn · 11/09/2023 15:10

@MountainFi how many days PO are you?
I have had the same happen. Slight bleeding/spotting with brown discharge. My tests are still getting darker 10 days later. I am paranoid about an ectopic but the EPU didn't seem concerned at all when I called last week. They just said it was likely an early miscarriage and test again in 10 days.
Have you called EPU?

This is how my bleeding presented when I had a molar pregnancy. Please make sure you're being scanned again.

Hi @MountainFi sorry to hear you are in a similar situation. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in an early miscarriage, followed by a futher loss but I gave birth to my beautiful boy last month so although hard at the time I had my happy ending. I hope things work out for you.

Thanks @Stargazer89 and congratulations!

My tests are now negative and I'm bleeding again, so a chemical/early
misscarriage here too. Fingers crossed for next month!
