Should I be seen between 34 and 37 weeks?

Despite 2 weekly checks from 24 weeks my GP doesn't want to see me until 8th Jan when I will be 37 weeks.

So far everything is ok but I would have thought the point of ante-natal checks was to make sure things stayed that way?!

If you lot tell me it's fine, I promise I will stop worrying!!

mine want to see me fortnightly from 34 weeks, so yes i would have been seen a week earlier than you.

Maybe they think this is ok because baby has been fine?

what was the reason for fortnightly checks?

hoxtonchick · 29/12/2007 18:27

have you got a midwife? i'd hassle give her a ring if i were you.

MerlinsBeard · 29/12/2007 18:28

good point hoxtonchick, why have you not seen your MW?

I don't have a midwife, don't know who that would be.

Not sure why the fortnightly checks. They are keeping an eye on the size of the baby as ds was v big, but the hospital is monitoring that, not the GP.

I'm being seen at the Royal Free in London and get seen every two weeks or so after 30 weeks, either by a m/w at local clinic or in hospital (its their policy).

DH is a Dr and says that not really necessary to be monitored so regularly in a pg with no complications.

If you want to be checked regularly, then tell your GP.

Hi beansprout.

I've an appointment with my midwife on Monday at 34 weeks. My last appointment was 28 weeks - midwife said they don't need to see me much as third baby and no previous or current complications. Not sure when they'll want to see me next but think it'll probably be around the 37 week mark too. The only GP appointment I've had was to confirm the pregnancy.

If you're worried about anything I would ask for an earlier appointment. Otherwise I do think they monitor less in second and subsequent pregnancies.

Thanks Love and Rozzy, that's good to hear. Feel reassured now.
