Scared about 12 week scan

Hi all

I'm 11 weeks 5 days and got my 12 week scan next Tuesday. I'm really scared and anxious for it, I'm worried that there won't be a heartbeat and I've had a missed miscarriage.
I had bleeding/spotting around 8 weeks which only happened once a day for 5 days. I had a scan then and baby was fine with heartbeat and they didn't know where the bleeding was coming from.
I'm just scared that the bleeding was something and have caused a missed miscarriage or something Im just so anxious for Tuesday.
Can anyone give me reasurrance please.

I had a bleed a week before my 12 week scan, they also couldn’t find why I’d bled or anything. It wasn’t a short bleed either it lasted about 4-5 days. Baby was fine, she is a very boisterous 14m old now!
Lots of people bleed in the first trimester, it’s one thing I learned when I spoke about my experience to people.
It’s normal to be worried, try and distract yourself. Worrying won’t help anything, although I appreciate it’s harder to do than say!

Heya I think everyone had the same feeling before 12 weeks so try not to be hard on yourself.

The odds of a MMC after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks are very low, bleeding can be very normal in early pregnancy as everything is moving and stretching.

Keep busy and take it easy x

Hey OP! I had a missed miscarriage too almost 3 years ago and an ectopic last year so I totally get this. Found out about my MMC at the 12 weeks scan too so when I found out I was pregnant this time I was terrified. Due to the ectopic I had to have early scans but nothing seemed to make me feel better as I was dreading the 12 week. Had my 12 week and it was in the same scanning room as when I had my MMC and I literally couldn't breathe I was so anxious but baby was absolutely fine and jumping around like crazy! I'm nearly 16 weeks now and finding out the gender on Sunday. I still feel anxious and think I always will but the 12 week scan definitely made me feel better. I didn't have any bleeding but was absolutely terrified about my 12 week scan.

I was convinced there would be no baby or no heartbeat.

I remember shaking and feeling sick on the couch.

However, baby was there, dancing around and absolutely perfect! He is now 8!

If you have seen a heartbeat at 8 weeks, it is unlikely there is anything wrong now as that's a really good sign! Good luck with your scan!

@Luclou I'm in a similar situation. 12 week scan is on Wednesday. Best thing to do is just keep yourself busy with whatever (chores, TV, games) and plan a nice treat for afterwards such as a favourite meal.

Chances are everything will be fine, but I agree difficult to stop worrying.

I don't have any advice as I'm in the same boat. Had an 8 week scan which went fine, and have a scan on Tuesday at 12+6. No reason to believe it won't be fine but can't help but worry anyway! Good luck on Tuesday, just need to try and remember we have very good chances after our 8 week scans :)

Thank you for all the reassurance, It was a 3 week wait for thia appointment and has been the longest weeks ever. I will update you on what happens Tuesday.
