Fundal height???

Hi everyone, this is my first baby so feeling a little lost!

I was told at 29 weeks that my baby is measuring in the 20th centile for size. Today at 31 weeks my midwife measured me and told me I'm in the 97th centile and wants me to do another GTT and then go for a growth scan. How can I have jumped so much in 2 weeks??? I'm so confused, has anyone had a similar experience and had a healthy baby? The difference is size seems a bit extreme to me and has me really worried :-(

Fundal height is very subjective and it’s a bit of an unreliable/outdated practice! I wouldn’t worry! It’s a pain you need to redo GTT but everything is most probably ok 😊 I ate an iced bun right before my midwife appointment and urine showed up in my urine, I now have to do 2 weeks of blood sugar monitoring! Try not to worry too much OP! I had two measurements on the same day by two different midwives and one measured me 34cm and the other 38cm! It shows how subjective it is imho. I also jumped a lot: when from 27cm at 27 weeks to 33cm at 28 weeks basically overnight. Go for your scan and that will give you peace of mind ♡

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the measurements. I got told I was having a big baby from these measurements, growth scans showed my baby was actually between 10th and 50th centile and when she was born she was 6 pounds, and in tiny baby clothes!

With my first pregnancy I measured small all the way through...I had growth scans etc. She was 7lb 4oz, I just had a neat bump.

With my second I measured way ahead and I did have a huge bump...she was 9lb

With my third I measured spot on all the way through, he was born early at 8lb 10oz

Try not worry too much about fungal height...the way baby is laying, amount of fluid etc can impact that. There are so many variables

'Has anyone had a similar experience and had a healthy baby?'

God bless you OP. Your midwife should have reassured you more, this is very, very common. Women are sent for growth scans all the time.

Fundal height measurements are subjective. I could measure you straight after my colleague and we both get slightly different.

Also, it's not your baby that is being measured, it's your stomach! That includes your fat, muscle, uterus, placenta, amniotic fluid, as well as baby.

Go for the growth scan and see where they plot the growth.

I had huge fundal height. Baby was 40th percentile for weight and perfect Smile

I did have a very large placenta though Blush
