HCG blood test levels

Hi there,

Anyone who can help me to understand how HCG blood test levels works? I went to hospital today after having a bit of discomfort and tingles feeling in my lower tummy, I had a miscarriage before and obviously I am over thinking and watching things more than normal just because I don't want to loose this little one and I am very scared because of what happened before.

They did a blood test where my HCG are 800 at 4 weeks pregnant and not sure if that's normal or not but I am back to hospital on Saturday to have another blood test done and see if my HCG are going up.

Anyone has experience this before?

Thank you 🙏

The first number doesn't usually make a difference its if it doubles or more in 48 hours, it can take up to 72 hours to double sometimes especially when starting to get into the thousands, so if by Saturday it's nearly doubled you'll be good! :)

As pp has said, the first draw doesn't really matter. Mine was 643 (which they said was good for how far along I was) at 4w+4d and then 1504 at 4w+6d. I had right sided pain do had bloods and a scan and everything was okay. I'm 6w+4d now and no idea what my levels are lol. I was told a rise of more than 63% was good

Thank you for your message to both of you, hopefully everything goes well on Saturday 🤞

I had 196 at 4w and 559 at 4w2.
She is 9 months now.
And my hcg was in the higher range throughout pregnancy.

@SunnySideUp2020 that makes my 800 really high? Why this could be? X

@Tania5 you could have ovulated earlier in your cycle, have implanted earlier etc. It could have been a variety of factors. Just know that 800 is a good level and if your doctor is happy, you should focus on that. There are charts you can google that should show you where you are in the range. As long as you double in 48 hours, that is the test you want to pass. Good luck!
