So I want to order all the sleep suits I'll need etc but I'm really stuck on what sizes to get would I get majority or the 0-1 or the "new born" size or maybe the 0-3 someone help and how many sleep suits and bodysuits do you recommend

6x of each size. You’ll get given some too so don’t go overboard. Generally speaking 0-1/newborn fits babies who are 7-10lb. 0-3m is 10-14lb. Depending how big your baby is they’ll probably be in first size for 4-6 weeks.

I have 4 newborn sleepsuits and a pack of vests
About 10 sleepsuits and 10 vests 0-1
About 15-20 sleepsuits and vests 0-3

And a few cardigans

@PinkandBlueMotherofTwo @Totalwasteofpaper thank you that gives me a bit of a estimate, my first baby so I'm over thinking everything at this point 😂😩

I have bought some stuff (basically bodysuits and onesies) in size 0-3. They will be used sooner or later. Waiting to be closer to June to get newborn sizes, as she might not use that size after all.

Caspianberg · 27/01/2022 07:33

0-1 is better or 0-3.
Newborn is for 50cm long usually. Ds was 54 cm born so squeezed in the first day or two, then gave up. The 0-1 lasted a month so better.

Mimba1 · 27/01/2022 07:37

I'd say get some cheap ones in each of the small sizes - not too many. Maybe 5 of each. DS was 8lb at birth but only in newborn for about 2 weeks because he grew so fast. Still needed some clothes though! You can also get FB marketplace bundles. Save your money for a few things you really like. First thing they wear, going home outfit etc.

Order the rest once you know how big your baby is. DS wore 3-6m for less than 3 weeks. That was a waste of money let me tell you!

I also found sleeveless vests really useful - easier to get on than the ones with sleeves and because DS was poorly and had a cannula I could actually get those over his arm.

For my first child I didn't really think about getting newborn and first size. He was born 6 lb 14 oz and 0 to 3 were massive so had to go get newborn. Deff have a good 7 newborn vests and sleep suits as even for the 3 days in hospital I used loads

Totalwasteofpaper · 27/01/2022 08:56

Oh yes that is a fair point… mine is all nutmeg at Morrisons and George.

No jojo maman here 😂

My babies have all been in 3-6 months by 6 weeks. Very hungry babies who were fairly big at birth and then fed non stop! I wouldn't get too much in any size - about 7 vests and sleepsuits seems about right and then get the rest once they here and you can see how big they are.

Caspianberg · 27/01/2022 09:09

For later, I found we didn’t use size 6-9 month much at all. Generally the 3-6, then you can go straight to 9-12 months and just fold cardigan sleeve a month or so. Some brands do 6-12 months which are good.

FTM here too! I'm now 36 weeks and have way too many clothes looking at these comments - easy mistake to make! Grin

If you're in the UK do check out FB Marketplace. So many lovely baby clothes in big bundles, barely worn, for a fraction of prices in the shops. I wish I hadn't of got anything new now, considering how quickly they grow out of them Smile

Depends how big your baby is. DS never got into his newborn clothes. He was born on the 50th centile but was really long and skinny.

I never could have predicted that though, I'm your case I would buy a few, or maybe some little leggings and vests so the length isn't such an issue.
