Cyclogest getting harder to insert

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and I've been using Cyclogest pessaries for about two weeks due to recurring miscarriages. The first couple of weeks I was fine inserting them but over the last couple of days I've found it more difficult, when I put the pessary up there (vaginally) it feels a lot thicker inside (tmi but only way to describe it) so it doesn't slide in as easily and I have to shove it up there. This morning's one was so tricky it fell out! Has anyone else had this? I read it can be to do with the thickening of the womb lining, which I hope is a good sign or that things are just swelling in that area in general due to pregnancy?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes OP, also had this issue although I'd been on them for probably 4 weeks before I found them tough to get in! I even had slight spotting after one that was particularly difficult! I persevered and it didn't get any worse...was then able to stop them at 8 weeks

Hi OP I really didn’t get on with taking cyclogest vaginally either.
I recommend taking them rectally instead. They can be taken either way and although it can seem a bit icky to swap at first the side effects were SO much better.

Best of luck, hope everything works out well for you. Flowers

@cherrytreecottage thank you for replying, I'm glad it's not just me! It really made me wince putting it in this morning. Hopefully it won't get any worse. I have a scan on 7th Feb so hopefully after that I won't need them any more 🤞🙏

@RiverRiot I'm nervous about taking them rectally but I have read that it's easier and less messy so I'll see how I get on vaginally and if it's still uncomfortable to do then I'll have to switch 😱

Why are you nervous about doing them rectally?

SoOverThisCrap · 26/01/2022 12:24

@Garman just because it's sticking something up my bum! 🤣😂
