Help

Confirmed MMC today, should have been 11 weeks tomorrow but been measuring 6 weeks for the past 2 weeks..

Not sure whats the best option at the moment in terms of helping my body release the pregnancy

@Clodagh21 Hi op I'm sorry about your missed miscarriage I had a d&c when I had 1 as they hospital felt this was the best option for me , what did the hospital recommend x

Clodagh21 · 26/01/2022 11:25

It was a private scan so I actually have to ring the hospital myself and tell them so not sure

@Clodagh21 I was given 3 options by the hospital with mine which were d&c which is what they recommend I had then there was the option of having tablets but I'd still have to be in hospital for a few hours with that and it doesn't always work so I'd end up having a d& c anyway and finally to let the miscarriage occur naturally but it could take a long time .

Machina01 · 26/01/2022 11:46

I’ve had 3 mmcs, one passed naturally and 2 were D&Cs.

If it were me I’d go with the D&C. It’s difficult anyway but I was so bad with the natural one that I fainted after passing a lot of blood and ended up at the hospital anyway. Also with the D&C they can test the tissue to try determine the reason for the miscarriage which can be helpful.

I’m so sorry this has happened to you. Whatever you decide, be kind to yourself.

Clodagh21 · 26/01/2022 11:46

Yeah considering baby stopped growing 5 weeks ago im thinking d&c is probably the best option as my body hasn't done it already. I hate that im still having some symptoms

So sorry that this has happened to you. I agree with others that I’d go for the D&C rather than the unknown waiting. It’s going to be difficult either way, so look after yourself.

Aw Clodagh, I am so sorry to hear that. My first MC I was 10 week so had a d&c. My 2nd, at 7 weeks, the hospital doctor got confused on the blood work and I just did not trust her, so I refused the pills, the natural took a long time, when I went back to the EPU for a scan to check it has all passed it hadn't. I was told to come back in two weeks and if it hadn't all passed they would do a d&c, but it passed about 10 days later.

I think if your body is showing no signs of MC I'd take the d&c.

Clodagh21 · 26/01/2022 16:55

Thank use

So sorry this is happening - it's so horrid. I had my second MC in the first lockdown and D&C wasn't an option unless medically necessary so I had medical management. It gave me certainty about timing and was successful and not that painful and I was at home with DH. I think the risks are lower than D&C as well. I don't know if I would choose that or D&C if I had a choice though. I suffered something like PTSD after my MC with lots of recurring images of what happened and I think that would have been less with D&C outweighing the slight surgical risk.

Lostintranslatio · 26/01/2022 20:49

@Clodagh21 I'm very sorry you're going through this 😔

In my case I found out at 9weekz that my pregnancy had stopped at 5+6. In the hospital I was given the three options, and they recommended the medical treatment as the pregnancy is very small at that stage. I finally did not need to take the tablets because my body passed it naturally at 11 weeks.

Clodagh21 · 26/01/2022 21:04

Im supposed to be 11 weeks tomorrow but have been having slight cramps for about a week so not sure. Going to speak to EPU tomorrow when they are open

Clodagh21 · 28/01/2022 09:29

Started bleeding today so i might not need the d&c

OP posts:
irishfarmer · 29/01/2022 03:02

That might be the start of it. I would still be booking with the EPU, you'll need to go be checked out.

Clodagh21 · 29/01/2022 08:15

I passed a lot of tissue lastnight but this morning ive woken up with worse constant pain

irishfarmer · 29/01/2022 12:50

You poor thing, take some pain killers, and use a hot water bottle. I recommend always discreet pants. Also call your local maternity ward, I did when I mc'd and they were very reassuring and told me what to expect. It will be the heaviest bleed you have ever experienced, but if you think it is too much call them to ask about it, if you are soaking through towels go to hospital! Try and mind yourself today Flowers

And do book an EPU appointment they will need to check everything has passed. It can be dangerous if some material is left up there.

Find something you love watch and relax for a few days. Call in sick to work if needs be.

Clodagh21 · 29/01/2022 13:46

Currently waiting to be seen at hospital as the pain is gotten pretty severe and im feeling hot and lightheaded

OP posts:
irishfarmer · 29/01/2022 15:58

Are you allowed to have anyone in there with you? Hope it isn't too busy in there

Clodagh21 · 29/01/2022 17:43

Im not long home there. You weren’t allowed anyone to sit with you in the waiting room but may have been able to bring someone into the actual room with the doctor etc but I went alone.
They said I had some ‘product’ as they called it stuck inside my cervix which they removed there and there and gave me some painkillers and anti sickness. Have to go back on Wednesday too

OP posts:
Clodagh21 · 29/01/2022 17:45

They also offered to do a test to see if the miscarriage was due to chromosomes

OP posts:
irishfarmer · 29/01/2022 22:42

Glad you're home, no if they weren't left into the waiting room they probably wouldn't have been allowed into the doc etc. It was the same with me, it is so shite going through it alone.

I hope the pain killers are helping. Oh right, didn't know they could do that. They told me it was more than likely due to chromosomes but they didn't really have any way to investigate it.

Do you have someone with you now? I hope the pain is easing.

Clodagh21 · 29/01/2022 22:58

The pain definitely seems to have gotten better atleast. Yes im with family:)
