I am 38 weeks today, and have gestational diabetes but its being controlled with insulin. Saw midwife yesterday for check up, everything fine. then last night started getting funny vision, like glittery bits infront of eyes very fast it lasted for 30 seconds, had it again tonight. I have swollen feet and legs(which i had very bad in last pregnancy) and fingers. Should i be worried? My urine was checked and was fine, bp fine, i mentioned the swelling and she just noted it down. My other symptom that has been coming and going for about 4 days is excrutiating pain that starts from base on neck right down to bum, and it throbs, when it comes on its like i cannot move at all. it doesn't matter what position i am in, it come on randomnly. Could any of this point to preeclampsia? I am totally paranoid as ususal and am aware these could be normal symptoms of pregnancy, what are your thoughts?

I had the stars in the eyes thing and was told in my case it was actually due to a low blood pressure. The back pain sounds a bit strange but don't know what it could be a symptom of. Why don't you ring your local hospital and tell us what you have told us? They should be able to advice you over the phone and get you checked over if needs be.

Me too re the stars in the eyes, particularly if just having exerted myself/got up/run up the stairs in the later half of pg - put down to momentary low blood pressure/iron deficiency. The back pain could be braxton hicks, baby pressing on nerve or even moving position.

But if you are worried then talk to your mw or NHS direct.

I'd call the oncall midwife or the maternity ward they might call you in for a check up - it's probably nothing but needs checking.
