I've just found out I'm pregnant with #2 and would like to treat myself. We only want 2 kids so know this will be my last baby and want to enjoy pregnancy to the fullest.

Please could you share your favourite maternity/pregnancy items?

Congratulations!!! Mine would be:

  • one or two proper maternity pieces of clothing - I mainly wear stretchy normal tops or jumpers because I hate buying clothes (laziness, not any better reason!) but always feel so much better when I wear one of the few actual maternity pieces I have (and not necessarily expensive - one is a plain black long sleeved tshirt from New Look!)
  • ditto a pair of proper maternity PJs, so much more comfortable now I’m huge (again mine are from Primark so not expensive at all)
  • something for water at night, for me a lovely old fashioned copper jug which I felt did a good job of keeping water cold and also looks really nice on my bedside table
  • probably a better pregnancy pillow - I got a cheap IKEA one which has absolutely done a job but given how much use it’s got and how uncomfortable sleeping is I would maybe splurge next time!

I also treated myself to a big beauty order the other day, perfume since I’ve struggled to wear during pregnancy, skin care to replace retinols that are past their best since I stopped using etc, because I felt like I deserved a nice treat, so maybe earmark something you’d like for yourself that you can buy as you get nearer the end (full disclaimer: despite mentioning how inexpensive things I’ve bought earlier are I’m an EXPERT in justifying spending money so maybe ignore this last one Grin)

I treated myself to a bbhugme pillow with Christmas money (after using a rolled up duvet which was comfortable and much less extravagant) and it is worth every penny. I sleep so well and my hip discomfort is almost nonexistent!

I think when I do it again I'd treat myself to more clothes. I survived first time road with basically a pair of leggings and a couple of tops but when I do it again I'm defiantly going to get a couple of nicer bits. You could always give them to a family charity after.

I'd also treat myself to a baby moon type hotel and spa stay. We were supposed to go first time round but it was cancelled in the first wave of lockdowns.

Ooh love this!

I agree on some good skincare, maybe some nice stretch mark cream/oil, some luxury leggings from seraphine, a decent pregnancy pillow - I got one from Amazon and wish I had splurged on the bbhugme. If I get pregnant again I will deffo buy this! Not sure it counts but I bought clothes that could ‘grow’ with me at 12 weeks - oversized tops, an oversized cashmere jumper & clothes wise I’ve felt great and like myself during the pregnancy! There’s only a couple of things that I won’t wear after (mat jeans & leggings) last but not lost a good pair of maternity pyjamas - I got some from Christmas and getting in them at the end of the day is heaven!
