Hey ladies

Has anyone bought sleepsuits/other baby clothes from Matalan and Morrisons? Im liking the variety they have but not sure about quality. Do the items wash well or would end up in bin ?

Nutmeg are fab. Just bought my sister some and they wash well.

Honestly, until they're about 18 months or so I'd go as cheap as you possibly can. Babies grow so fast that it won't matter how well their clothes wash - they'll be outgrown before that becomes a problem! Also I had to cut a couple of items off my babies after particularly severe nappy explosions!!

Andariego · 24/01/2022 15:41

Morrisons (Nutmeg) are really great quality.

AugustSeptemberOctober · 24/01/2022 15:41

Also to actually answer your question, yes mine have had items from all the supermarkets and the quality was fine Smile
TU at Sainsbury's do some really nice bits.

Willow4987 · 24/01/2022 15:42

Agreed with @AugustSeptemberOctober. They’re in new clothes every few months so supermarket and cheaper shops ranges are fine. The only ones I didn’t like were primark as I they wore through really quickly!

FelicityBob · 24/01/2022 15:43

Matalan kids clothes are expensive. Tesco and asda are great. Nothing I bought ever ended up in the bin

anxiouswaiting · 24/01/2022 15:46

Morrisons I have found are very good but I think they come up a bit small.

Sainsburys and Asda are good and last pretty well.

The best quality in my budget I found is Next which seem expensive, but I always buy in the sale when they are about half price which usually makes them similar price to supermarket.

I avoid H&M - got lots of lovely looking stuff from them which added and bobbled after a couple of washes.

@AugustSeptemberOctober Kind of has a point.... also you change clothes a lot and wash clothes a lot so you need many. Personally I'm not rich enough to buy everything in expensive shops Grin so I have cute stuff from Asda and Sainsburys, some from Next and a few fancy more expensive pieces Smile
dontcallmelen · 24/01/2022 15:51

I’ve found Sainsburys or Asda better for quality especially the vests/babygros, Matalan baby knitwear is good the other stuff not so much no Morrisons near me so haven’t tried, Tesco stuff usually good.
Primark can be very hit or miss the vests/babygros are very thin & haven’t washed well, have had some really nice cotton tops but that’s about it.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/01/2022 15:55

Morrisons better than Matalan imo.
I found Tesco the best for sleepsuits as they were long and thin which suited dcs body shape.

For non sleepsuits I got everything else at h&m.

Xyzzzzz · 24/01/2022 15:57

Bough both DD’s clothes from there no issues

ronswansonstache · 24/01/2022 15:58

Nutmeg (Morrisons) are great quality but do come up a bit small. My DD grew out of her 12-18 sized tops at 14 months. They still had loads of wear in! Size up and you'll be fine xx

MrsNT · 24/01/2022 16:03

H&m sizes are confusing me so staying away for them for now. I alao decided to buy frm supermarkets as kids outgrow stuff but at the same time don't want very poor quality. My nephews wear asda, tesco and sainsburys so i knew they are good .I liked stuff at morrisons but wasnt sure if quality is good or not. Thanks for the tips ladies.
Also whats up with instore variety. My local asda and sainsbury bairly had any 0 to 3 month sizes! Will have to buy online from them

I was really grateful for the Morrisson's sleep suits I got given, second hand but looked pristine as they wash well and were good fit for bubba as the sainsburys and tesco ones were either too long in the arm or leg despite all being the same size on the label. Next stuff is lovely and fits/washes well (for her) but is a bit more pricey

mummyh2016 · 24/01/2022 17:55

Matalan comes up big, their newborn stuff is more comparable to 0-1 month stuff from other places.

buntywindermere · 24/01/2022 18:05

I buy my boys vests from Matalan and they have lasted so well. Washed and washed and washed and then passed down and washed some more. No difference at all quality wise to M&S.

NewBrownMouse · 24/01/2022 18:06

Morrisons, asda and sainsburys are great - washed well and many of mine were still in great condition having been worn by two babies. Matalan is ok but not as good as the supermarkets. Primark is hit and miss as some things are really thin.
Next is good though it is more pricey but I have Next items that have been used for 4 children now as I got them as handmedowns and then used them for each of mine and they still look great.
I bought H&M bits for nursery as low cost and sometimes do discount offers but they aren't as good quality as the others - I'd probably say better than primary but on par with Matalan and the sizes are awkward as not the standard 3-6, 6-9 etc

Somerandomgirl · 24/01/2022 19:05

Nothing wrong with them i always buy from the supermarkets

GivenchyDahhling · 24/01/2022 19:10

Never had anything from Matalan, MIL has bought quite a few bits from Morrisons and they’re good quality. Sainsburys is also really good.

8dpwoah · 24/01/2022 19:15

My second DD is wearing the stuff her big sis had and every supermarket brand one has washed and lasted well so all good, but I agree with PP that Morrisons stuff does come up a shade small so I use that first when we go up a size, then keep the Next, M&S etc for when they're a bit bigger in that size bracket.

Matalan and Primark doesn't feel like it's lasted as well as it could have, looks a bit sad and faded. But they do have quite a lot of choice whereas as you say the supermarkets can be lacking. Sainsbury's is my favourite for nice bits but all of them are good for the basics.

ChillysWaterBottle · 24/01/2022 19:23

Morrisons and Sainsburys stuff is great! You will wash a lot but as a PP said baby will grow out of them long before they become too worn

pradavilla · 24/01/2022 19:34

Have bought from both and they are really good for the price. I've probably got more from Matalan recently.

I usually buy from both for clothes for nursery, although got both girls really nice Christmas outfits from Matalan. I've got 2 little girls. Eldest is 4 and she's got a really lovely thick and furry lined winter jacket which I bought in Matalan. Quality is on par with jackets we've had from gap, river island, Next and Ted baker.

Also got winter boots this year from Matalan really reasonable and so cute have lasted well so far. Prices aren't much more than Primark but the quality is much better!

Nat6999 · 24/01/2022 19:36

I bought loads from Matalan ready for ds to be born & lots once he was born. I can't comment on Morrisons babywear but their adult clothing is excellent quality.

HappyAsASandboy · 24/01/2022 20:50

Nutmeg clothes from morrisons are brilliant quality :)
