Red patch on left breast early pregnancy?

Hi guys! I’m looking for some advice, I’m 23 and recently pregnant around 5-6 weeks. I’ve developed a red / pink roughly circular patch on my left breast which isn’t itchy or raised and no lumps (my GP examined me). He prescribed some anti fungal cream (at this time I didn’t know I was pregnant) and said to use for 2 weeks. The redness is spreading and they are sore even my arms are painful and aching As you can imagine I did a Dr Google and have worried myself sick at what I saw so am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? :( Thank you

If the cream isn't working, go back to your GP!
If the pain is too bad to wait, call 111 and ask for advice?

Did your GP mention ringworm? You need to go back if it isn't improving.

He just had a feel for lumps and said he recons it’s just a fungal infection, I’ve only used the cream for 3 days so far so if it doesn’t improve in a couple of days I will go back Confused

I had a red circular type patch appear on my breast earlier in this pregnancy. My GP thought it was ringworm & prescribed me some cream. It didn’t do anything. Roughly 2/3 weeks after the patch appeared I began to have more & more spots/patches. Turns out I had Pityriasis Rosea, that’s why the cream didn’t work. It covered my breasts, arm pits, sides, top of bump, groin and thighs. It took around 6-8 weeks to go. Basically you have to leave it to run it’s cause (if that’s what you have).

Ahh really! Was yours textured? Mines as smooth as my normal skin!

@Bambsx no mine wasn’t raised. I’ll post some pictures for you

The first picture is the patch that came up first and was mistaken by the GP for ringworm. It’s called the herald patch. The other pictures show how the rash/spots spread. Not saying this is what you have but could be a possibility if you start getting more patches

Hmmm mine is larger than that, I can't attach a pic cos I'm new. I'll have to just keep an eye :( thanks for your help!!

Could it be mastitis? You can get that in pregnancy not just with breastfeeding. It can turn nasty quickly but can clear up with antibiotics. Do you feel unwell at all, like flu type symptoms?

Bambsx · 24/01/2022 11:32

I thought this! It looks similar to the pictures I’ve seen of early mastitis, I have body aches and keep getting the chills throughout the day. Maybe I will call the GP again

I would recommend bypassing the gp and going to 111 as it needs to be dealt with more quickly if it is mastitis.

I think it's worth looking into mastitis.
