Hi everyone I’ve posted this on the June thread but doing another post incase anyone further a ahead or who has already had baby can help. Had 20 week scan yesterday all seemed fine sonographer didn’t mention anything other than the assistant asked me if I had GTT booked which I have got in 8 weeks at 28 weeks. When I came out and looked at my report it says Abdominal circumference measurement plots above 97th centile and that I stated I have GTT booked. The other measurements seem normal when I’ve had a look possibly little bit big but not off the chart. My nerves have gone am scared there’s something wrong or am going to have a huge babe that I can’t deliver. Anyone else had a thing like this before and all been fine or what was your outcome ?
Thanks

Not at 20 week scan but I had a growth scan at 36 weeks, everything was 50th centile except for stomach which was 85th centile, me and DH was expecting DS to have a huge tummy! He came 10 days later and everything was normal, stomach was in proportion to the rest of his body.

Hey OP
My baby has been above 97th percentile for as long as i can remember. I’m 38 weeks this weekend. They’ve advised me to have a c section as baby’s estimated weight is 9lbs 10oz, and i had a big baby first time which caused me issues! I don’t have any advice as such other than to say try not to worry as if the baby is measuring big you will probably see a consultant and they will put a plan in place for you.

I'd speak to your midwife and see if you can get your gtt done earlier as this can be a sign of gestational diabetes.
Do you have any other symptoms e.g. very thirsty at night?

Hi thanks for your replies am going to give my midwife a call on Monday and ask her what she thinks. I’ve also read online you can’t get GTT till 24 weeks am just going to try and be good with the sugar until I can’t speak to her. It’s so so worrying am just trying to tell myself the sonographer didn’t say anything to me xxx

My daughters stomach measured off the chart on all scans, and she was born happy and healthy and it's now 16 months! If your worried check with your midwife thoigh xx

Crazylemon86 · 22/01/2022 16:59

I had a GTT at 16 wks as had gestational diabetes in a previous pregnancy so they can do them earlier it's just not normal practice. 😊

Daisysandviolets · 22/01/2022 16:59

Also my daughter was predicted to be over 9lbs at 36 weeks but was born at 39+4 at 8'2 xx

Definitely get them to test you sooner. I had a GTT test at 16 weeks and then 24 weeks. I got diagnosed with my 24 weeks one! So they definitely can test you sooner. There's ladies that have been diagnosed at 12 weeks etc xx

Flowerbug1994 · 22/01/2022 19:30

That’s for your advice and reassurance am 100% going to speak to my midwife on Monday and get a test sooner. It’s just my midwife is really slack with things I didn’t have my booking bloods until like 14 weeks I waited weeks for my rhesus blood test and stuff does anyone know if she doesn’t help if I can speak directly to the hospital ? Xx

My midwife was a bit slack with sending me back for a GTT when I have a family history of diabetes and baby was measuring on the 98th percentile. Not to frighten you but I ended up trying to deliver an 11lb + whopper naturally. Fortunately (?) my pain relief didn’t work so I was exhausted and asked for a C Section.

If I was you, I would hassle, hassle, hassle for GTT and for additional scans esp. as you are nearing due date. My last scan was at 36 weeks and then they kept messing about booking me in with obs doctors and consultants to “chat through my options”. Waste of time, and if they’d have just scanned I could have gone in for a cs without a failed induction.
