can you tell the sex at 3 month scan?

my SIL is 3 months pregnant and says the scan showed it was a girl. I didnt think this was possible as when I had my baby 4 years ago my 3 month scan showed basically a skeleton. Just wondered if things have progressed since then? Does anybody know or is SIL making it all up?

Thank you ..thst does help.TBH it all seems a bit weird cause we were told at our 5 month scan they thought we were having a girl then but werent sure so I guess things have progressed sonce my dd!!

I found out with both of mine at nuchal scan at 13 weeks. My scans were private ones and the sonographer said it is very clear from about 13 weeks onwards whether it is a boy or a girl altho the NHS dont usually have the time or inclination to look until the 20 week scan (in case they get it wrong I guess)
