End of isolation - working in a school

Somehow the lead up to this passed me by and I was shocked when I heard the news.

I’m worried that chances of catching covid will now be much higher once I’m in the third trimester. I’ve been chilled about being in a a school so far even though no one is wearing masks atm but this feels wrong.

Anyone else feeling like this?

Isolation isn't ending yet, just mandatory masks, but if you are pregnant it would be perfectly reasonable to ask children you are teaching to continue wearing masks as part of your risk assessment whilst circulating infection levels are still very high.

Sorry to clarify I will be going into third trimester when isolation ends completely on 24th March. I work on a special school where pupils are not rule followers so I’ve been the only person (staff or adult) wearing a mask since returning in January.

I’m used to the no mask thing but concerned about having an increased risk on the third trimester.

I know it’s not just working in a school, there will be people all over the country sitting next to asymptomatic positive colleagues.

I’m just worried about being more at risk when I hit the third trimester when I was already most worried about getting ill with covid.

I also work in a school and most of my children don’t get tested (they’re in year 4) We had an outbreak that started last week. So far 13 positive cases in my class. Both adults in class have had our boosters and so far haven’t caught it. I’m nervous too, but the way I see it, the majority don’t test and are asymptomatic so are coming into school with COVID and not isolating anyway so it won’t be much different to how it is now. If adults catch it they will distance and take precautions and we will know to steer clear.

After the outbreak I decided to tell the Head I was pregnant at only 8 weeks, I don’t know why I bothered as nothing changed 🤷🏼‍♀️
