Miscarried in August at 9 weeks.

Currently 9 weeks and found a small amount of old blood when at loo today. This is coupled with quite bad period type pains.

Has anyone experienced anything similar with a positive outcome?

I have been to GP today and they have suggested a watch and wait policy for the next 12 hours and I need to phone GP tomorrow am with update. In the meantime, I am worried sick (literally)

Just wanted to reply so you know someone is here - no advice I am afraid except go and try to rest.

Oh and Bump for some better advice!

RBH · 27/12/2007 18:23

Miscarried, had DD1, miscarried again, had DD2. Bled with all 4 but with the pregnancies that became the kids it was mainly old, brown blood.

The wait and see bit is horrible and my thoughts are with you. Hope all goes well.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 27/12/2007 18:23

Is it red blood or brown blood?

kd73 · 27/12/2007 18:25

It is brown and so that is better, its more the pain that I am worried about.

I went to bed this afternoon for "rest" but just ended up working myself into a mental frenzy and being sick

Brown is old so yes, that is better.

The pain could be everything stretching, esp if this is your first baby.

I had this, was told by an evil m/w I would m/c and he is nearly 7 now.

Hope all goes well and try not to worry.

RBH · 27/12/2007 18:30

I had cramping feelings as well. Does your local hospital have a drop-in early pregnancy unit? By the time I was on my 4th pregnancy I used to go whenever I bled as I wanted a scan to know what was happening as I found the not knowing so difficult.

kd73 · 27/12/2007 18:32

The pains been pretty much constant all day ... this morning I thought it was stretching and felt really positive but then when I saw brown blood I just felt sick....

Am I being paranoid and worrying unnecessarily?

Someone tell me I am mad (please)

Sorry RBH post crossed.

EPAU (early pregnancy assessment unit) was closed by the time I saw GP who saw me within 2 hours of the discovery. It should be open tomorrow which is why I have to contact GP tomorrow am. Unfortunately they only accept GP referrals so I can't go direct

I know how scary this is. I'm sorry that you are going through it. I hope its nothing. Try to stay calm

juuule · 27/12/2007 18:42

I think the only way to know is to have a scan.
Insist that the gp refers you tomorrow.

kd73 · 27/12/2007 18:47

Thanks ladies for the advice.

I am scared of having scan in case its bad news. Had a terrible year not sure how much more I can deal with

dear kd - you poor love, I'm sorry you're going through it right now. Try to rest and take your mind off it if at all possible. You're not mad or paranoid, just dreadfully anxious that everything's ok, and it's hell when there's nothing you can do to make it ok. Be lovely to yourself and I hope it's good news. Thinking of you x

Hi kd73- I just couldnt not post when I read your thread. I experienced brown blood spotting, some "gloopiness" which was very dark brown and some bright red watery blood loss all at around 7 weeks. I, like you, was absolutley gutted and felt almost paralysed with fear that I would lose the baby. However all was well, and Im now 36 weeks pregnant. Rest if it makes you feel better, although to be fair, the only thing that is going to make you feel better right now is to see your little babe on the screen of the ultrasound machine. I am thinking of you, and pray for your little one.
Try and be strong.
There is so much to worry about, but remember things are ok sometimes despite us having terrible fears.
Take care, and let us know how you get on.

kd73 · 27/12/2007 22:05

Thanks for all the messages.

I am simply terrified that a) its gone wrong b) its going to go wrong.

The bleeding has stopped and was very minor but the pain is something else

I am really scared because I asked dp for paracetamol when I first discovered blood loss and was resting and he brought me Ibuprofen. I asked "is this safe?" answer "yes". Actually the answer was no and it increases m/c risk by upto 80% .

I am really upset with him and I know that he is really scared for our little family

I am thinking about you this morning.

pussycatmomma · 29/12/2007 03:48

hiya kd........how are you feeling?
I hope you get to have a scan soon and that you are soon reassured.
Thinking of you x

kd73 · 29/12/2007 08:11

Spoke to GP again yesterday morning, I am very fortunate as all the doc's at my local surgery are the most loveliest people. Anyway the doc is very happy no further bleeding and explained the pains could be anything from stretching to constipation and to try not to worry.

Told her about Ibuprofen and she reassured me that 1 is unlikely to do harm

She suggested I contact EPAU but they are closed until after New Year so when I called GP just to let her know obviously no scan available, the gp organised for one of the receptionist to call me later with several names and numbers from various hospitals locally who have all agreed, that should the bleeding recommence they will see me no problems.

I love my GP's - feel so much better now.

Thanks for all your posts - keep fingers crossed for me and little bean x

Glad you have a plan - fingers crossed no more bleeding x

pussycatmomma · 29/12/2007 17:02

kd that is wonderful news, and so good to have a plan should anything else occur. I am very pleased for you. Hope you are feeling a little better and somewhat reassured.
Keep us posted, I will pray for your little one to hang on in there.
