How long after your booking in appointment did you get your scan date letter?

Just that really!

Had my booking in appointment yesterday (sort of, normal midwife was on leave and the cover only took what details were necessary to send off the scan form, but anyway) and I'm wondering how long I can expect it to take for a letter coming through telling me when my 12 week scan is?

Main reason for concern is that DH's supervisor is going on holiday soon and won't be able to approve his leave request while away so if we don't here the date relatively soon I might be going on my own.

Thanks!

I think it really depends on your NHS trust as they all do things slightly differently. I self referred to the hospital at 4 weeks pregnant, got a letter through with both booking in and scan details at 6 weeks pregnant, and then had my booking in appt at 10 weeks and scan just over 12 weeks.

You could always try calling the midwife line at your hospital to see if you have been processed yet rather than waiting for the letter?

I got mine before I got my booking in appointment

Hmm, didn't realise it was so different in different places. Here, the midwife sends off a form requesting a dating scan after your booking in appointment (Aneurin Bevan)

You get given date at booking in appointment here....unless you booked in later then you may already have date before you book in

GemmaRuby · 19/01/2022 10:06

Yes it’s all different - just give them a ring.

Before book in appointment that is

I got my scan date when I first phoned to say I was pregnant. Letter then came a few days later to confirm x

Thanks all, think I'll wait another day or two for them to process the request then give the hospital a ring.

Different health board here but same system
in that MW requests it after booking in appt. She said it should come through within a week (obv depending on staffing levels with Covid etc) - my booking in apt was Sunday so I'm hoping to hear something this week

Does your trust use the badger app for your notes? If so keep an eye on there, my scan appointment showed on there a few days before the letter arrived!

I had my booking app at 9.5 and weeks and she said I should have heard by then but she advised me to call so ended up calling and they gave me a date for 13wks x

Had my booking appt via phone on a Thursday got email with my scan details from hospital on the Monday, physical letter turned up few days after in the post.

Booking appt was when I was 9+ 3 had my scan bang on 12 weeks

I'm the same health board as you, but because I didn't have my booking in appointment until about 11 weeks (long story but had to chase lots), I got a phone call from the hospital the same day as my booking in appointment to book me in for the following week. So it depends how far along you are really. Also may depend where the midwife is based/ where they were as I think mine had to pop to the department to hand the form in!

No online notes, it's all done on paper!
