You can eat the vast majority of things that you can eat while you're not pregnant. The NHS website has a list of the few foods that they advise avoiding, otherwise just crack on with a normal, healthy diet. Some meat (if you eat it), grains, veg, fruit, and obviously some treats!

What do you like to eat that’s healthy when you’re not pregnant? Because chances are you can have that. You don’t really have to be on a special pregnancy healthy eating plan.

I don't think I changed my diet at all when pregnant. Just eat what you normally do Confused

Pregnancy has ruined my normal healthy eating. I've totally gone off salad! I used to love salad and eat it many times a week. I've also gone off many veggie proteins. I don't really want to eat anything except maybe toast or junk food. I can manage cooked vegetables (although I sometimes have to stuff some in whilst trying not to feel sick). I've also been eating a natural, higher protein breakfast cereal and toast from higher protein bread. I'm hoping I get through this and it's just a phase!

Why would you just eat vegetables all the time? Just eat normal food 🤷‍♀️

My eating patterns didn't change other than more ice blasts to cure my craving.

Some yummy food that is healthy would be grilled Salmon teriyaki - contains omega 3 acids and is SUPER yummy!! Smoothies with Avocado toast for breakfast are also delicious!

You can find a couple of good blogs on the nurturey.com website. I personally refer to their blogs and they are very informational

SlyAvocado · 19/01/2022 12:18

The word yummy really makes me cringe.

But salmon is good. I’m sure you have ideas of your own for healthy food you fancy though OP? You’d have thought of salmon?

RedWingBoots · 19/01/2022 12:22

Eat your normal diet and take a pregnancy multi-vitamin unless you have been told otherwise.

Just avoid unpasteurised food, unwashed fruit and veg, too much caffeine and uncooked cold meats.

When I was pregnant I ate the same as normal however I did start really craving dippy eggs and deli meat (typical!)

I resisted the urge until I was about 40 weeks then went to town on one dippy egg with soldiers. Was amazing hahaha

SlyAvocado · 19/01/2022 12:26

You could have had all the dippy eggs you liked @OmgIThinkILikeYou, if in the U.K.

And probably most deli meats too.

You can safely eat dippy (and even raw) eggs so long as they’re lion stamped in the UK.

I like…..
Bit of whole grain toast, peanut butter and banana
A nice probiotic yogurt with berries or apricots/peaches added
Crisp bread with cottage cheese and avocado
You can make oat ‘biscuits’ by literally mixing oats and mashed banana together and baking! Add some nuts, raisins, chocolate drops etc to make a bit more interesting.

Hope that gets you started 🙂

I eat a huge variety of stuff , Definitely not just veggies as no different really to before pregnancy other than no alcohol ! Though I include more fish than would and less sugar as trying to eat well.

I’ll often have sourdough with avocado , eggs or hemp porridge for breakfast (as a change from oats as find it more interesting), often chicken or herring or something for lunch with baked potato , lots fruit, nuts, soups etc .
I take a pregnancy vitamin every other day or so now and about to go into 3rd trimester.

holdonbaby · 19/01/2022 21:13

@TunaJacket thanks I'll try those!

@Lyla24 I know what you mean (I think). I'm trying to now eat a range of veg across the week and more fruit than usual.

I'm keeping an eye on my bread and pasta intake as I'd usually have loads and I'm very early on so don't want to balloon!

I'm having treats and will be having my weekly takeaway!
