Covid & being induced

Hi girls.
Unfortunately I've tested positive for covid-19 this morning.

Due to have a baby on the larger side, I've been scheduled for an induction on 28th January despite having a due date of 11th Feb.

I'm just a bit worried what's going to happen now that I'm 36+3.. will they induce me early? Keep me in covid ward for observations until labour? Or?

I was already anxious about delivery due to having consecutive miscarriages & hopefully being a FTM this time round😔

Any advice would be appreciated x

Well the isolation period is only 7 days but that is all fine as it assumes OP is asymptomatic. Presumably she might be worried about actually being sick with a flu-like illness whilst heavily pregnant and being induced.
@haidri are you actually sick? Is there a medical reason your baby is so large, like GD?

@haidri if it's any consolation I'm 40 weeks on Thursday and currently have covid (my due date is the day my isolation finishes). My midwife's have been fine about me having covid and just told to rest and drink plenty.

@JenniferAlisonPhilippaSue I'm assuming it's from my husband's side of genetics that baby's growth is on the larger size

Are you vaccinated and boosted @haidri?
If so you should get through with mild symptoms only and be able to have your induction as planned.

@haidri I'm not vaccinated either and also had a rocky road for this little one. Try not to worry. Have you contacted your midwife? Best thing you can do is try and relax.

Oh dear.
Try and drink plenty and keep as mobile as you can whilst isolating at home to reduce the risks of clots in your legs, lungs or placenta.
Call your GP or midwife if you start feeling more unwell and 111 if it's out of hours. Symptoms tend to get progressively worse towards day 6 or 7 so be alert for this.

@haidri my OH is fully vaccinated and had it worse than me. My main symptoms early on was a headache and body aches and then was fine and back to normal by day 5 & 6 and then 7 & 8 came out with a cold and sneezing. Day 9 today and feel loads better. Like I said, my midwife wasn't concerned but said to rest and drink plenty. Obviously too I've been conscious of baby's movements but she's been moving as normal. Is your OH positive?

Does your midwife/doctor know you have Covid? Make sure you tell whoever is caring for you especially as you are unvaccinated. In my trust, even vaccinated, you are given anti blood clotting injections etc and there’s a virtual Covid ward which you need to attend regularly.

Having covid doesnt necessary mean you will feel horrible hun , they dont induce women for having flu or cold and they can feel nasty.... no reason to qorry yourself x i know they only scare on news but really dont worry xx

Ah, just seen you have contacted your midwife. Hopefully she keeps an eye on you. I’d personally buy an oximeter if you don’t have one, just to keep an eye on your own oxygen levels.

@Derbee surprisingly she was calm and said yes that's fine if you're not vaccinated and you have covid, but we're not going to record this anywhere. You just need to come to maternity triage if you're breathless.

@haidri wow, that sounds much more hands off than my trust! It’s strange how much they all vary.

@Derbee @haidri it varies trust to trust. Mine doesn't offer the fragmin injections yet or the oximeters/covid ward as standard whereas a lot do. Mine also said to call the covid line if I feel unwell/breathless and if any other worries with baby I can still go to DAU.
