Hi everyone, just after some reassurance I think. Had a scan yesterday and dated 10+6 which is exact for my LMP. Baby was on their side and would not budge despite the sonographer trying hard to move them, getting me to cough and wiggle. There was a heartbeat but I am panicking this isn't normal. Anyone else had this? Could baby have been asleep?

I've just had my 20 week scan. Baby was measuring perfect and appeared healthy, but it took a few belly jiggles and laying me flat on my back to get her to shift! I'm now feeling her every day at 21 weeks. She's never been super active during scans for some reason. If the sonographer wasn't worried, then I wouldn't worry.

I had to have 2x 12 weeks scans as when i went for my first scan, the baby was upside down and no matter what I done, baby didnt move. I wiggled, bounced up and & down, starjumped, went for a wee three times and nothing. Im now 32 weeks and baby is absolutey fine :)

Thank you! I do have my 12 week scan in a couple of weeks at the hospital too so fingers crossed for that. I booked the scan for reassurance and I came out more worried than I went in! The sonographer wasn't worried though so I need to take something from that... she said my baby was lazy Grin

You saw a heartbeat I would take that as reassurance, when I was pregnant at my 20 week scan my son refused to move he had buried his head to the side so they couldn't get his brain measurements nothing I did would make him move I ended up having to go back and see a consultant. He had moved for that appointment consultant came in went yep that's a healthy brain why are you here ?. Was scary but absolutely fine they are just comfortable and stubborn and don't want to move xx

I had the same at 20 week scan. Baby had her back to us and no amount of jiggling or bouncing would move her. Went back a week later for a repeat scan and was asked to drink a sugary cold drink 10 minutes before and clearly did the trick as she wouldn't stop moving that time 😅

I dont think our little one likes scans a lot of the time she hides or puts her hands up to her face. My husband was worried she wouldn't budge first time but I knew she moved well and her heart was fine she was just being stubborn

Completely normal, I've had a few scans where they make me jump on the spot 10 times to try and get baby to wake up.

They then asked me to return and had an ice cream in the freezer waiting for me for before the rescan and it clearly worked as she was jumping all over the place 😂

That was a private scan, but you could always eat a small chocolate bar or sugary snack in the waiting room before going into your next scan x

@dg93 thanks for that tip! Will try that next time and come to think of it I was sick around an hour before my scan so my stomach was empty apart from the water I drank on the way there! I've watched the video I got with the scan about 10 times today and they do move a tiny bit which has reassured me - they switched to 4d so I could see the baby and they lifted their head up asif to say 'piss off' Grin

@Dspx @Caass45 thanks for the replies! I feel abit more reassured - will try a cold drink before or a sugary snack next time! X
