Stabbing pain - 35 weeks what could it be?

So I have had quite a few "take your breath away" stabbing pains at the front of my vagina this evening.

I have had shooting pains which feel like they're going up my vagina before and assumed that was lightning crotch, but this pain feels more on the skin if that makes sense? It's where your pubes are rather than inside pain (see pic).

Any ideas what it could be or is this just another form of lightning crotch? 35 weeks pregnant and a first time mum so not sure what's normal or not!

Thank you x

@Mummatobefeb2022 it may be lightning crotch specially if it feels like occasional electric shocks that makes you scream OUCH!

I had these! While trick or treating with a friends children. Amusing for others hell for me!

Call the unit if you have any concerns- they will have heard it all!

(Off to google lightning crotch - wtf?!)

I had these from about 30 weeks onwards in my first pregnancy.

This pregnancy I've noticed them (mildly) even from really early on.

No idea what they are but you're not alone,

I had those from about 35 weeks ish too, was told it was my pelvis moving apart in prep for labour. That baby arrived at 41+2 so it obviously took a while.

I had this too at 35 weeks (I’m 37 now). Intermittent sharp pain at the front and slightly to the left, kinda in the groin I guess but definitely on the outside and not inside the vagina. Felt like little electric shocks and wasn’t round ligament pain - too low, not muscular and wasn’t associated with me moving. I just had it for one evening. Baby was really active that night too but may have been a coincidence. Had my 36 week midwife appt the next day and asked her about it and she said the baby was probably just moving down and wiggling into position and was brushing a nerve. Sure enough baby was engaged when she checked. I had also gone for a long walk that day which had probably also encouraged it to move down and wiggle!

Congrats on your pregnancy and wishing you all the best for the next few weeks!
