Dress size at 39 weeks (bridesmaid)

Hi,

So I'm a bridesmaid for my sister in laws wedding which is at the end of April and I will be 39 weeks pregnant!

She has said I can bow out at any time if it become too difficult, and is trying to be accommodating. But I don't want to let her down, and think it would be lovely for her future niece to be involved (even as a bump)

She's decided on a colour and shop to buy the dress from, only thing is they don't do maternity dresses! I'm currently wearing at size 14 at 24 weeks pregnant and have a fair bit of room in it. I tried an 18 and it swamped me and I just can't imagine it looking flattering.
It's high waist/empire line style. So just debating if I really need to go up an extra two sizes?!?

Any advice?? Do you think an additional two sizes would really be necessary? Or maybe just another one as it's mainly belly growth?

I'd go up the two sizes tbh. I normally wear a 14 and at 36 weeks now I'm finding some size 16 non-maternity stuff a bit snug across the stomach and chest. If something's a bit big, it's easy enough to cinch it in or even have it adjusted, but it's harder to get things let out and tight things can feel quite uncomfortable in the third trimester.

Buy 2 dresses. Get a dressmaker to cut one open and put a panel in from the second dress. Solved! Noone will notice with flowers held in front.

Get the dress adjusted with an extra panel at the back? Or buy bigger and get the top half tailored?

I’d keep it simple so you don’t end up spending a fortune, as by 39 weeks you could already have the baby

At 39 weeks all my babies had already been born 😀😀. Also I'd personally have needed an actual maternity dress. A lot depends on your own body shape and frame but sizing up didn't work for me as everything just hung off my shoulders and looked ridiculous. I had big bumps and huge boobs for my pregnancies so by 30 weeks could only wear maternity clothes
