Hello, i’m 20+2 and for the past few days i’ve felt my lower belly (top of bikini line) going rock hard on and off at night when I have my hand there to feel baby. Online it says braxton hicks affect the whole stomach but it’s just really low for me. It’s not painful just tight and full, then relaxes. Any ideas?

My BH started out that way. By 30 weeks it was the whole bump but I had the same question at around 20 weeks :) I wonder if it depends on the position of the baby?

Oh i’m glad i’m not alone! I was worried it was premature labour but i’m sure i’d be feeling pain if it was Smile i have an anterior placenta so can’t feel much more than flutters, also thought baby would be too small now for her position to make my belly move?

Also anterior placenta here (well, high anterior so depending on where the movements are the amount I feel differs). I had flutters til about 23/24 weeks I think then more definite movements. 30 onwards is a whole other ball game though haha.

Oh I bet!! I keep trying to get my husband to feel her moving but whenever he puts his hand there she stops. Hopefully there’ll be no mistaking them soon like you say!

Talk to your midwife about taking magnesium. I got told to do this in Switzerland, soluble magnesium got rid of them really quickly when they happened. I mentioned it to my midwife in the UK and she had never heard of it but said it wouldn't do any harm so I did it for subsequent babies too.

Seconding magnesium. You need to stop it by w 35 as it’s not helpful in labour.

Great, thankyou. Did you find out what the cause was?
