8 weeks pregnant with second and not feeling excited

I'm 8 weeks pregnant with our second baby. Our first born is due to turn 1 soon. I'm feeling totally different from my first pregnancy. When I was due with our first I was really excited planning and thinking about anything and everything in a positive way. But so far with this pregnancy I've been feeling anxious, worried how we're going to cope. I'm feeling very negative which is making me feel guilty. It doesn't help that I fell exhausted but struggling to get quality sleep as my mind is constantly racing! Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

I felt super anxious during my first pregnancy. All I would say is don't feel guilty at all. You can't control your feelings and they don't mean anything. You're anxious because you want the best for your family. Deep down that's why you're worried about not coping (which of course you will - it's soooo hard but you'll boss it!)

Yes, I'm feeling this. I have a 22 month old and I'm just worried about how we'll cope with two because our first isn't a great sleeper and we need to move. I keep reminding myself that it'll all work out fine and be amazing to have a sibling for our little one.

Thank you both for replying. I'm glad that I'm not alone in feeling this way. Im hoping that everything will be fine. Feels good to chat about how I'm feeling.

Yes, I felt exactly this and lots of people do. The second time around is different - you know what's coming, you know it's hard work, you already have one to think about, and it's not all a novelty any more.

I worried about coping all through my second pregnancy, and most of my friends did as well. It's so normal. You'll be fine - there'll be lovely moments and nightmare moments, but having two (especially so close in age) will be wonderful☺️
