Fetal movements and bloating

Just wanted to get a straw poll to see if anyone else has experienced this. I've found fetal movements to be the most anxiety inducing thing of pregnancy so far, probably because a friend had a stillbirth at 39 weeks after RFM shortly after I found I was pregnant. It's kind of haunted me all the way through but I'm doing CBT and stuff to combat the anxiety.

Anyway, currently 27 weeks and baby doesn't really have a pattern although she moves around a fair bit, particularly in the morning. However I have noticed that I don't feel her for ages when I eat a bigger meal. I get awful bloating whenever I eat more than small amounts ATM and I can't feel her move until a good 3 hours after eating when the bloat has gone down a bit. Has anyone else found this? I thought they were meant to move more after meals!

(BTW fully aware that if I am concerned and baby doesn't move after the whole lie on your side drink something cold etc, I should go in to be checked. Luckily so far that has always done the trick.)

Where's your placenta?

@bluesky8 it's posterior high, so shouldn't be muffling the kicks as I know anterior can do

I'm 27 weeks Monday and have periods of down time, which always scare me!!! My midwife said at last appointment I should notice patterns from 28 weeks but as long as I feel baby every day that's the main thing - although always call whatever time / day if I haven't felt baby move.

He had a quiet day the other day which really shook me but back moving like a maniac this morning.

Sorry I can't be of any help but it's a shared similar experience xx

I don’t think they are really supposed to do anything in particular - whatever is normal for your baby is ok! Maybe the thing to do is have more smaller meals or more regular snacks so you’re not having a big meal and getting the bloating? My baby also doesn’t have a pattern (at almost 33 weeks) so I get how worrying it is when you’re just not sure what they are up to in there! I’ve been using the kicks app which allows you to monitor sessions of movement over the course of the day. I found that helped me see a pattern in the sense that over the course of a day the total number of movements is actually pretty consistent even if the timing isn’t.
