Velcro ripping sensation...?!!

I wondered if anyone has experienced this...

I'm 26 weeks, anterior placenta (not sure if that's relevant..) anyway, if I breathe out too far or move in a weird position I feel a weird sensation over the front of my bump.. like velcro being ripped off / sudden acute pins and needles type sensation. It literally lasts like 1 second but catches me off guard everytime.

This is my second pregnancy and I never experienced it with my first ... but I didn't have an anterior placenta with my DD.

I have been getting it every so often since like 18 weeks and I did ask the sonographer to check the placenta at my 20 week scan, which all appeared fine and have tried to explain to midwife who didn't appear too worried and mentioned ligaments ... but I have ligament pain by my ovaries and that feels completely different!

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same?!!

Thanks x

I had this (also with anterior placenta but no idea if that’s related). It’s a really weird feeling, but in my case anyway it didn’t appear to be related to anything serious or worrying.
It is unsettling though. The Velcro description is spot on.

Did it ever go in your experience, or did it carry on throughout?

I called midwife and she wasn't worried at all. Said likely to be nerves - but that placenta is well protected.

Everytime it happens I literally shout out - it's quite embarrassing. Yes - it is unsettling so thank you for replying!!!

I think it carried on throughout. It happened again with my second child, but less often. Both babies were fine.

I think I had something like that. I always assumed (probably totally incorrectly!) that it was the feeling of stretch marks being created. 😆

Lol! No stretch marks here yet!! Glad other people have experienced this weird phenomenon!!!

Might be round ligament pain, might be the beginnings of diastasis recti? Keep checking with the midwife if you've got any concerns

I assumed it was stretch marks coming too

I also had a weird numb patch at the top of my bump under my right boob

I get the Velcro bring ripped feeling too! It’s so weird. Always near the top of my bump! I don’t remember having it in my first pregnancy either. Literally lasts a second if I move too quickly or awkwardly. It’s not painful or anything so I don’t think it’s something to worry about.
