I'm 34 and have been going grey/white since I was 16!
I've always dyed my hair because I have very dark hair but with a white stripe down the right side, I look like a badger!!

Can I dye my hair? Is there a specific dye? Or do I just need to look like a badger for the next few months

I get my hair highlighted along with semi permanent colour on the roots at the salon and my hairdresser said it was perfectly safe

The book "Expecting Better" has a section on this. Verdict was that it's fine to put dye on your hair, but don't eat or inject it Wink

The concerns around it were that, if you inject pregnant rats with massive doses (like 1000x the amount you could ever absorb through your skin) it can cause issues.

Absolutely fine, but bear in mind that your skin can be more sensitive during pregnancy and you can react to things you wouldn’t normally, so always do your patch test even if you’ve used the same dye 100 times!

Thank you!
I'll be ordering some dye tomorrow 😃
I'll definitely not be eating it so there will be no issues there 🤣😊

I’m 35 weeks and have been dying mine through pregnancy. I reduced the % on the peroxide just to avoid inhaling too many fumes but my hair didn’t behave any differently to normal and baby is still doing well :) just do it in a room with good ventilation and you’ll be fine.

BobbleWobble1 · 13/01/2022 15:48

I've dyed my hair in both pregnancies. I also have very dark hair and similar problems with looking like a badger. My hair also didn't behave any differently but it is wise to do a patch test.

Yes the only reason you are advised against it is because your hair might react differently to dye now due to new hormones but nothing to worry about in regards to baby
