Hello. I came across some info on a government review deciding not to start routine screening of CMV in pregnancy. Essentially it is a common virus that can cause neurological defeats and hearing loss in some babies affected (a fairly small amount of those infected but still 200-250 per year). I came across this asking for comments before 17th Jan 2022: view-health-screening-recommendations.service.gov.uk/cytomegalovirus/. Thought I would post if anyone has been affected or had views. You can read the report on there. It looks like there is treatments available but it’s being dismissed at present and I wonder what others think? We seem to spend our lives testing for covid and other issues why would they not support women by screening for CMV too?
