Hello I’m really worried as I used the canesten applicator really far into my vagina to insert the pessary to treat my thrush - didn’t realise until after that you shouldn’t use the applicator whilst pregnant! I’m panicking majorly that I’ve caused damage to my cervix and pregnancy now - any advice on what I should do next?

I was worried about this too so I called maternity triage before using it. They said that they had never heard of the applicator not being safe and expected it was just precautionary in the leaflet. They recommended I still use it as it’s hard to get it far enough in to be effective without using it.

Try not to worry, there are lots of women who are put on progesterone pessaries well into their pregnancies with applicators that are exactly the same as the canesten ones. I know it says not to use the canesten applicators when pregnant but I don’t see the difference to be honest. I’m sure you’ll be fine, but ring your pregnancy unit if you need reassurance

It's precautionary OP. They cant test this shit.

Put it out of your mind.
