12 week scan nerves

Hello!

I am pregnant with my first baby. I had a scan on Friday which dated me at 9w10d, showing a wriggling baby with a heartbeat - one of the most surreal but lovely moments of my life.

I was told by my gynae consultant last year that it may be difficult for me to become pregnant, and luckily that wasn’t the case, but this whole pregnancy I have just been thinking worst case scenarios because surely it can’t all be plain sailing, and not letting myself get too ahead of myself - I do know how silly this is and I don’t wish to offend or upset anyone with that mentality - I genuinely wasn’t even sure if I could be pregnant.

Is anyone else like this? I know that I’m not out of the woods at 9w6d but a wriggly active baby is surely a good sign? Just looking for some positive stories really. I have searched on here of course, but keep coming across posts that end up panicking me more.

Thanks so much in advance.

Hi, i am very similar to this. My pregnancy has been so straight forward, no major symptons apart from tiredness in the first trimester and seems to have returned in the third now. I had one small issue (i fainted at 15 weeks for literally 10 seconds). I went into my 20 week scan & had a gloucose test and was positive that something would be wrong as i had it so easy. I am now 31 weeks and still going fine. Im now convienced that labour will go horribly wrong instead.

@Plates2022 I think you are bound to be nervous since you were told getting pregnant could be difficult, it adds a whole different dynamic and more pressure to the situation. However I think it was would be very very unlucky to find that sadly something had gone wrong if you saw an active baby with a good heartbeat at 9+ Weeks. Try not to worry, the signs are very positive for you xx

Hi @Plates2022, just to say I'm feeling very similar, and at a similar stage to you. I had my last scan at 10 weeks (measuring 9+6) and saw our baba wriggling away with strong heartbeat which was so reassuring but since then I've been nervous about my 12 week scan which is next week (I'm 11+5 today). All the signs are really good so think we have to stay positive and accept the nerves are normal but not let them overwhelm us. I found this video on YouTube quite helpful . Sending you positive thoughts!

Thank you so much for this! I’m back at work this week after Christmas so have had more to occupy my mind which has been good! I hope your scan went well if you’ve had it?! Mine is next Wednesday xx
