So at booking my bmi was over 40, due to hyperemesis my bmi is now 38 at 33 weeks .. my local hospital website states that you can give birth in the birthing centre as long as your bmi is under 40 at 28 week app.. which is was.. but as my bmi was over 40 at booking will I still be able to give birth in the birthing centre?

Also it says no birthing pool can be used if your bmi is over 35 due to safety reasons..

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Has anyone had a high bmi and still been allowed a water birth?

Hey 👋🏼

Didn't want to read and run ... I don't have experience of high BMI myself - however, I did a year of a midwifery degree 7 years ago before pursuing a different career path. I remember being told that ladies with a BMI over a certain number (cannot remember but I guess 35 at your trust) are unable to have a water birth as if there were any complications which rendered the lady incapable of getting out the pool and required medical staff to get them out the pool urgently then a BMI over a certain amount would not allow this to be done safely.

I cannot assist on your other question re. birthing centre.

I hope that helps but I think the best person to query with is your midwife. Good luck lovely x
