Hi ladies,

I'll be 35 weeks on Tuesday and was diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks. Managed to stay diet controlled up until 30 weeks, and now on 1g of metformin morning and night for my fasting levels.

My next growth scan isn't until the 20th, and I'll be seeing the diabetes team after. Just wondering if there's a chance I'll be offered induction and if so what week? Obviously I know no one can give me a definite answer! Just hoping someone's been in similar boat..

Ps, baby boy was measuring just under 50th centile at my last scan at 32 weeks x

Literally just posted something similar myself! I'm not medicated though. Diet controlled still. So jumping on this to see if you have better luck with replies ❤️

It depends on your trust I think. My hospital said that it would be between 37 and 39 weeks depending on the result of my 36 week scan. I’m on metformin and insulin and my induction has been booked for 38+4.

Mine was 5 years ago and I was diet controlled plus I had other health issues so probably not the same . But they didn't want me to go over my due date . So i was induced 2 days before my due date and had him on the day he was due.

My trust only induced if you were on insulin, at 38 weeks. I think it varies quite a lot between different hospitals

@Mae2020 I've had GD in last two pregnancies. Started checking blood since 9 weeks, my poor finger lol but has helped with controlling my diet I'm gonna be induced on 17th ( 2 weeks for due date). I'm on metaformin and insulin. My trust don't want patients to go pass 38 weeks.

I had GD in my second pregnancy and was offered induction. I took the option as by the end I wasn't able to control my levels with diet and metformin so was on insulin and had to keep upping the dosage.
I was supposed to be induced at 39 weeks but it was delayed due to induction suite being unavailable as there were more critical cases than me so think i was 39+5 in the end. All went well, DS maintained his sugars well immediately and we were home the same day.

At my hospital you are induced at 37 weeks if on insulin, and 38 weeks if on metformin.

I have my 34 week growth scan tomorrow and I'm expecting a csection date - I've read online you should always have your date around 34 weeks, as you obviously need to know when to isolate before going into hospital for csection / induction.

My babies measuring above 97th percentile x

They scan at 36weeks to decide whether to do induction 37 or 38 weeks.
I was booked at 37 weeks but had a scan the day before and they decided that baby could cook for a little longer.
They’ll check your sugar levels during labour and check baby’s as soon as it’s born and a few hours after.
Baby will need to be fed within the first half hour if being born- I harvested some colostrum and he had that

I'm on metformin and I have severe polyhydraminios and I'm having a section at 38 weeks. Could have gone for induction but a bit risky with all the fluid!

YerAWizardHarry01 · 10/01/2022 06:02

My trust induce with GD whether you're diet controlled or on meds, as soon as you get diagnosed they say between 37-39 weeks depending then on meds and growth scans. My first GD baby was induced at 38+5 and my second was bang ok 37 weeks because my 36 week growth scan showed she hadn't grown since the previous one
