Increased heart rate during C-Section

Has anyone else experienced this when having previous babies etc?
This happened to me during my C-Section after baby was born, I think when they were doing stitches etc. I was fine, and my heart rate did settle itself but I was just curious how common it was!

Lots of reasons for an increased heart rate. How fast was it?

Surely it's natural in times of high stress.

They actually thought I had had a heart attack!! Apparently my heart rate was so erratic! Did the neck chop thing! Then mentioned theatre for a defibrillator!! I thought I was going to die alone as dh was with ds in nicu... Then rate returned to normal. Heart monitors on for 24 hours and no explanation... Stress I am certain. Follow up cardio appointments showed a healthy heart...

Very normal for heart rate to fluctuate during surgery, due to medication, anaesthetics, stress, bleeding, so many reasons! As long as it returned to normal and the rhythm remained normal, then the anaesthetist wouldn't be too concerned.

@Santaisstilleatingmincepies Oh wow you had quite the experience! Must have been so scary at the time. I remember feeling quite out of it, almost dazy after the C-Section but I put it down to labouring for hours prior and being exhausted. It was only after baby was born, I suddenly started sweating a lot and the machine started beeping. My OH said he was getting worried about me at that point but I was fine in myself, just felt very hot.
As previous poster said, maybe it’s very natural when going through high stress but no one ever told me about the risk of high heart rate prior to having a caesarean. Maybe it goes without saying, I don’t know! X

During my first two deliveries - one vaginal, one c section - I had very very high heart rates. First went over 160 and the second time was between 100-120. Took about 24 hours to come down both times. First time was apparently due to an infection and the second they didn't know, it just settled after a bit.
