Experiences of low lying placenta/placenta previa

I am 31 weeks pregnant. At 25 weeks my doctor told me that I had a low lying placenta but expected that it would move by itself. At the 30 week scan, he said that the placenta was still low lying and that it’s unlikely to move now. I’ll have another scan at 33 weeks to check and if it hasn’t moved by then we will schedule a c-section for 37-38 weeks. This is my second pregnancy but with my first daughter I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth so this is all totally new territory for me!

Would love to hear from anyone who has had a low lying placenta - did you have bleeds? At how many weeks? Did your placenta move after 30 weeks?

Thanks so much Smile

I had one with my first. It didn’t move. I had absolutely no bleeding. If I hadn’t been scanned I’d never have known.
I went into hospital at 37 weeks just in case I went into labour. Had him by scheduled section at 38 + 2. No problems at all.
Hope yours goes as uneventfully as mine. Smile

Hello I had it with my dd now 8 yo. It was found at 22 weeks and I had scans every couple of weeks and then a c section at 38 weeks. Had no bleeds.

Hi
I had placenta previa and didn't move. Had a planned c section at 39 weeks. No bleeding and no other issues. Just had a few extra scans from 36 weeks onwards. Planned c section was relatively calm and recovered really well. Good luck!

Similar to PP low lying placenta was picked pretty early. Was told it would probably
move, it didn't. No bleeds. Had a planned section at 37 weeks, which went very smoothly.

The planned section was very positive. Meant we knew when the birth was going to happen so were able to plan a bit.

Good luck!

Complete placenta previa, detected at 24 weeks, didn't move and confirmed as complete at 28 weeks. Had minuscule bleed at 33 weeks, bigger but still small bleed at 34 weeks, admitted for bedrest until csection at hopefully 37/38 weeks. Massive bleed at 34+1, baby delivered by emcs at 34+2.

Hello, I am 21 weeks pregnant and have also been told I have a placenta previa 😩
I don't cope very well with anything health wise which isn't the 'norm', so this along with high blood pressure is a bit of a nightmare for me.
I found it very daunting when I got told about this and Google is horrendous!
Really good to hear positive experiences and OP you have my full sympathy! xx
