Hi all so am due first week in June and of course the British weather is so unpredictable. Any sue around or had a baby around the same time help in what they are buying. I’ve got the norm and basics white vests white growers to sleep in. But what are you thinking of a day ?? Am a big fan of only blue and white for him and nice knitted Spanish stuff.

I only had my first scan this morning so don't know gender but I'm due in August so I've been shopping this morning. I bought some little shorts, cotton rompers, soft denim dungarees and short sleeve babygrows. H&M have some organic cotton rompers and bodysuits too that should be cooler. They're all neutral colours but there are some blue

My DD was born first week of June, to be honest we had a handful of short rompers and dresses for when it was hot but other than that she was mainly in sleepsuits.

I would wait a bit before you start buying or you'll have masses of stuff by the time he comes. Also you'll have a better idea if he's going to be a big or little baby. When pregnant I bought lots of winter wear that didn't fit my tiny baby until it was spring!

I had a summer baby who is now 3. Dont over think it. Personally I didn't buy lots of fancy outfits as she grew out of them so far and I preferred easy access clothing for nappy changes and poonami clean ups. If its a hot summer it'll be less clothing the better, especially at night. If it's a mixed summer then sleepsuits, vests and shorts. A hat or two and keeping them shaded is important.

I always made sure the changing bag had 3 changes for exploding nappies and leaks.

I'm kinda rambling but honestly just make sure you have enough of a supply for a few days and clothes can be easily washed and dried. You'd be surprised how many things from boutiques and fancier looking things in high street shops need special washing. You don't need that with a small baby!

Personally I would go vests and babygrows. I find ones for sale in that season are thinner than winter ones anyway. Also rompers, so basically a vest with slightly longer legs to make it more shorts like for those hot days. You can get more outfit type things but I don't think its worth it when they're tiny. June can definitely be hot or cooler!

Vests and babygrows. Rompers for very hot weather. Lightweight sleep sacks and swaddles. The hospital will probably still want them in a hat even though it will be hotter than hades in there. You don’t need much more! Save the cute outfits for winter when they’ll be a bit bigger.

DD born 1st June, was quite a hot summer that year, she was in baby grows mostly, vests when it was hot

Following -
First time mum and due 26th June - no idea what newborns wear in the middle of summer; not sure I've ever seen a tiny baby in the summer!

Obviously overheating is a big worry.

My first was born at end of June - it was quite a warm year! She wore a lot of vests - usually with leggings over the top. If it was colder she’d have a T-shirt and cardigan too. Vests to sleep in when it was roasting. We also had a few sleep suits but didn’t use many till she was into 3-6! Personally I wanted to get her dressed everyday - so we had loads of leggings and a few dresses. I’m now expecting our 2nd, hopefully a week AFTER DD1 (not sure how she’d handle sharing her birthday! 🤦🏼‍♀️) either way we will get the exact same.
•lots of short sleeved vests
•leggings
•a few sleep suits
•a cardigan

@Fredthefish super helpful. Will have more Q for you when I think of them 😂 x

Flowerbug1994 · 08/01/2022 21:43

Thanks for all your responses. Up to now I’ve got all cotton sleep suits and vests and then just some bits like socks and muslins and stuff. Will buy some nice light rompers for day time for visits and stuff. So hard finding nice little boys stuff on the high street.
