Plus size c section

I’ve elected to have a section and will be in just over two weeks which is both exciting and terrifying.

I have made my choice for a number of reasons and my consultant has signed it off. Of course due to being plus size and it being surgery, the risks are always mentioned. I’ve done enough research and heard enough of the negatives that I’m really itching to hear positive stories and how others have managed particularly plus size/high bmi. Bar the fact I’m fat, I am healthy and have remained very active until a few weeks ago due to SPD and his size.

Thanks

I had a c-section in July of this year and weighed 19 stone at the time of the section, I had a c-section in 2017 and weighed 16 stoned and found no difference in the healing and recovery regarding my weight. The only thing I will say is I have a rather large overhang and the scar area can become quite sweaty and sore if not dried properly or if I wear low rise knickers that sit under the overhang.

Thanks @username723 I’ve bought plenty of high waisted pants and know about keeping it dry. Glad all went well for you x

I had a very high BMI with my first and my emergency c section went absolutely fine.

No complications, the recovery was fairly quick and the hospital staff were lovely.

I think the only time my weight was ever a factor was when they couldn't get compression stockings to fit my rather sizeable legs ha ha ha. Turns out I didn't need them anyway.

Try not to worry, I'm sure it will all be fine.
