Hello lovely ladies, This is my first thread initiation so please be gentle!

Please could you let me have the benefit of your wisdom regarding the attached two tests? Clearblue taken yesterday, Accunews taken this afternoon.

My ex and I are sadly broken up so this would be a complete accident. However, I recently turned 40 and figure this may be my last chance. We were long distance so I don't have to see him although I will of course let him know if it turns out I've caught.

Last had sex with him the 30th October to 2nd November. Came off the pill that day as I wanted my body to have a break. We broke up two days later. Two days later (8th and 9th November) I had a weird two day spotting bleed, no pad needed. Assumed it was either a withdrawal bleed or a period but a really weird short one. Then lower abdomen cramping around the beginning of December for about a week. Then another two day spotting bleed (no pad needed) on the 24th and the 25th December. Since then, I've had those abdominal cramps on and off again, feel just like period cramps. Felt sick and excessively tired for a while a few weeks back and I'm still constantly needing to wee. Oh the joys lol!

I'm thinking maybe I've just got low amounts of hGC if I am pregnant. I've booked a docs appointment for next week, so I guess I'll find out then for sure but thought I'd garner some opinions beforehand. Apologies for the essay and thanks in advance xx

Try going on the main site not the app!

Bellsandsnow · 07/01/2022 18:55

Sounds like you could be... If there's a line then you probably are.

Sarahcarter1981 · 07/01/2022 18:55

Thanks but I'm not on the app. I'm on the main site x

Blue dye tests like clear blue are rubbish. I've never heard of accunews. If it's pink dye and there's a line you're pregnant- don't trust a blue dye. A woman on here's husband has a positive blue dye test. Also, kindly, text with a pink dye when you're officially late. No point beforehand

Sarahcarter1981 · 07/01/2022 20:41

I am officially late lol, I’ve not had a proper period for over two months now. Thanks anyway though. I’ll try and add the pictures now I’m not as busy xx

That looks positive to me but if you've not had a period for 2 months I'd have thought it would be a stronger line?

fuckyourpronouns · 07/01/2022 20:49

Sorry posted too soon. Can't see it as a positive on the pink test. Sorry op xx

Mo1911 · 07/01/2022 20:51

I've used clear blue for my three pregnancies and they were all accurate.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Sarahcarter1981 · 07/01/2022 20:52

Thank you all, much appreciated and I’ll definitely let you know after next week’s appointment. Hope you all have a great weekend xx

The clear blue one is very much positive. Hope all goes well.

grace1991 · 07/01/2022 21:30

Deffo looks positive! Congrats! Xx

Holskey · 07/01/2022 23:24

The clearblue looks positive, but like PP I would expect a very strong line based on your dates. I would retest with a different brand. Good luck!

onewednesdayindecember · 07/01/2022 23:44

I would say it’s a positive

czycoup · 07/01/2022 23:52

Since you would be around 12 weeks I would expect the test to be darker. There is the hook effect where high levels of HCG confuse the test to make it appear negative. You could try diluting your urine before testing and see if that brings up a stronger line.

There is deffo a line in the clear blue from what I can see.

beansprout55 · 08/01/2022 18:57

After the placenta takes over HCG levels begin to drop - urine tests do get lighter, you even get negatives later on in pregnancy.
12 weeks with a line could very well mean you're still pregnant or a missed miscarriage.
Please let us know.

Sarahcarter1981 · 09/01/2022 16:22

Thank you all so much for your messages, they're so appreciated.

It's all very confusing at this stage and given when I came off the pill and how long the ex's sperm can live inside unbeknownst to me, doesn't help either lol 😂

I'm not going to take any more tests until my docs blood test this week coming. but I will for sure let all you lovely ladies know the outcome.

Thank you all again xx

Any news Op?x

Lou98 · 13/01/2022 19:53

I had dates round about yours, we had sex the 19th and 23rd Oct and I'm 14 weeks pregnant so you would be just less than that.
It's very likely your test is fainter due to the hook effect/placenta taking over.

How did you get on at the docs?

Sarahcarter1981 · 14/01/2022 18:04

Hi all, thanks again. All sorted and yep, I'm pregnant....and single....and scared xx

Lou98 · 14/01/2022 22:02

@Sarahcarter1981 it's scary now but you'll find a way to manage.

Congratulations! 🥰🎉

beansprout55 · 14/01/2022 22:16

Congratulations! You can do this! So happy when people find out about a new life inside them, probably because i'm 17 weeks pregnant but it makes me cry! 🥲

At least you found out now, lots of women only find out about now so you've still got 6 months to prepare. It goes so slow I find!!x

Is this your first?xx
