Early pregnancy cramps??

Hellooo, I'm currently 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant and today I've been getting period type cramps. They started off this morning on and off and were super mild, like hardly even noticeable. But as the days progressed they've gotten worse and are almost constant. They're not severe or unbearable but they're definitely worse than I would have imagined and I'm just worried something is going to go wrongConfused I've been googling so much and I think I'm making things worse for myself as I've been reading about miscarriages etc.

Does anyone have any experience of this so early on and did everything turn out okay for you?

Thanks in advance x

It's such a worrying time isn't it. My sister experienced mild to moderate cramping in early pregnancy. She is now almost 6 months along and all is going well. You can take paracetamol just to take the edge off which in turn might make you worry a little less. If you worry less, it will be beneficial for you and baby. Sending much love x

With my first pregnancy, I had such strong cramping that I was sure something was going wrong, it was toe curling pain at around 5-6 weeks, I then went on to have some spotting at 7 weeks, but a scan showed a healthy little 9mm baby with a strong heartbeat. He's 15 this year!

I have sadly also had miscarriages and found that it was lower back pain that started first rather than cramping.
I really hope that it all settles down and works out well for you Flowers

I am 4 weeks 2 days and have had a bit of cramping too. A few days ago it actually woke me up during the night and I had to take some paracetamol, was convinced I'd be bleeding but I wasn't.

Lots of weird things going on inside us currently I guess:)

JLQ1020 · 07/01/2022 17:44

Oh god yes I had these. Like awful period pains?
Had these and I'm not 35 weeks pregnant 😊

rainbowzebra05 · 07/01/2022 18:19

I've had this with all previous pregnancies. I'm there again now at 4w1d. I can remember constantly knicker checking with my youngest because of it! I felt implantation, so I'm gathering I'm just a bit more sensitive there than some others

Hairyfriend · 07/01/2022 18:25

I had this early with all 3 pregnancies. I'd read that its the hormones already loosening and stretching the uterus and ligaments, along with increased blood supply to the uterus. My cramps were sometimes dull and other times like a knife was being stabbed in for a split second. Always in different parts though, so not consistently in any particular spot.

If it becomes one sided pain though , you get pain in the shoulder tip, feel faint or start bleeding, go to A&E ASAP.

No way, it's so strange isn't it!! You're right though, it's all new for our bodies isn't it so I guess it will just take some getting used to the new symptomsHalo

Congratulations to you by the way, looks like we'll be going through things at the same sort of time! X

So relieving to know you've experienced it and things turned out well! Yeah I guess you're right, everyone's body is different isn't it so maybe I'm just more sensitive to it as well x

That sounds just like mine... full cramping almost constantly which keeps moving to different areas throughout the day and every now and then I'll get a quick stabbing pain. So strange isn't it! But good to know that you've had successful pregnancies with the same symptomSmile

Thanks for the advise x

Yea first weeks always feel like 'period is coming any moment now'... u know the feeling x its goes away at some point during those weeks tho dont worry

InTheNightWeWillWish · 07/01/2022 21:19

I was so convinced my period was about to start that I refused to test. It was only after a week of period pains and no period and my husband gently suggesting I should test, that I did and got the positive. Cramps lasted until I was about 9 weeks but it’s because everything is shifting around and getting ready for your expanding uterus.

I’m currently pleading with a 7 week old to go to sleep in their crib and not my arms!

Hello everyone, I really need some advice please because I am feeling very lonely and don’t know who to ask.

I have been experiencing constant bad cramps since last Thursday (found out I was pregnant on Sunday) I’m 4 weeks 2 days today and obviously thinking the absolute worst. Just want to know if anyone else has experienced this as google is saying that it should only last 1-3 days and come and go but mine is constant :( thank you for the help x

Hey Jenny, if you read the comments on my post a lot of others experienced the same thing and went on to have healthy babies which is comforting to know!

It's the most worrying time ever isn't it. I'm 5 weeks and 2 days today and I'm constantly googling everything I feel and convincing myself I'm having a miscarriage. But you've just got to try and tell yourself that the more relaxed you are, the better things will be for the baby.

Hope things go well for you, I'm sure they willThanks

It is really reassuring to have someone else to speak to isn't it! I'm still getting cramps but they're not as often now as they were before and they're definitely more mild. I had them really strong and consistent for a few days last week and it worried me so muchBlush There are still a lot of things that are worrying me though. I'm just really bad for googling everything I feel. Most people would be thankful to not have morning sickness/nausea but I'm stressing because I haven't had one of the biggest symptoms haha! Xx

jennyj1234 · 11/01/2022 20:50

Yes it really is! I’m glad you are feeling a lot better than you did.

Yeah I am dreading the nausea as I have emetaphobia (phobia of being sick) but I can’t let that stop me having children but i am so frightened.

Thank you for replying to me x
