Hi, had my 16 week appt today and both myself and the midwife were confused as to why I have been sent 3 consultant appointment letters and have been put on consultant led care. At my prior appointment there was no mention of extra scans or appointments given which confused the midwife even more as she assumed I would have been told why I was having them. The scans are a 23 week doppler umbilical scan and a 32 week growth scan.
I'm 24, my bmi isn't a risk and I have no past medical conditions myself or in my family. This is my first baby. No one has expressed concern at all.
She told me there was no obvious reason for it at all, aside from I had covid in August prior to pregnancy(was very mildly ill). This seems strange to me but she said they're awaiting new guidance on this very soon.
I don't feel comfortable in hospitals so want my care to be as relaxed as possible and have had good experiences with midwives but not with the consultant who I found abrupt and rude. My midwife said she will find out tomorrow the reason for all this and if I still have questions by my 20 week scan in 3 weeks to ask there.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Has anyone else been put into consultant care with no reason given?
Has anyone experience of the two extra scans, why were you offered them?
