Hi,
I'm 33 + 4 with DD2. A few days ago I got a slight pain on my right side and thought I'd pulled a muscle. Over the last 12 hours or so it is definitely contractions, and I am in immense pain.
The same thing happened when I was expecting DD1 although that was on the right side. Midwife thought because baby pressing down on a nerve. It lasted for weeks, and I spent most days and nights having hot baths, and couldn't walk or move a lot of the time.
I have a tens machine from last time but I know you are not supposed to use it before 37 weeks. How important is this? I didn't use it early last time, but I also didn't have a 12mo then!
Although the contractions are frequent and the pain constant hell, I really don't think this is labour. I've had an easy peasy pregnancy till now, identical symptoms (apart from changing sides) happened with my first pregnancy and she was 9 days late and needed a bit of persuasion to come out. I used a tens machine for the last 2 weeks or so day and night and honestly think I'd have given myself a caesarian without it.
Other than hot baths, hot water bottles and paracetamol, what can I do? And has anyone used a tens machine at this stage?

Just to clarify, this time it's right side and last time it was left.
