Christmas weight gain!

Help! I’m currently 17+2. Pre pregnancy my BMI was around 27 so a bit on the high side. During the first trimester due to nausea and surviving on carbs I gained a lot of weight, then Christmas happened. I just weighed myself and have gained 2 stone during the pregnancy so far. Now feeling horrendously guilty that it’ll harm the baby and conscious I’ve been so lazy too.
It’s a wake up call and decided to start a fresh tomorrow, I’m signed up to Bumps & Burpees and will aim to follow a healthy diet.
Anyone else got experience of this? I know I’m not meant to ‘diet’ but is it ok to shift a few pounds which I know are from excess eating not baby? Confused

I was on the higher side too but I had nausea and food aversion which meant I didn't gain any weight until the third trimester. I was weighed at booking in and then at 39wks, midwife only commented that the only weight I gained was baby. He was born healthy at 8lb 15oz. As long as you are eating healthy and not crash dieting you'll both be fine. All the best to you!

Well done. Everyone's weight gain is so different and it's really hard seeing the numbers go up! And trust me, I hate gaining weight, hate it! I'm 31+4 and have gained 1.5st so far. Xmas didn't help but trying to be good now until the end. Well done for getting your 5 a day in, I need to do this much more!

So difficult isn’t it! I spent ages washing loads of different fruit / veg and popping them in boxes in the fridge to make it as easy as possible.
Not too long for you to go - how exciting!

Im exactly the same, I had high bmi eaten my way through sickness and gained 2 stone.. am 20 weeks at the moment, I try to make healthy choices but often am sick so it’s difficult!! I keep planning on going out for more walks but struggling to motivate myself at the moment. Good luck xx

@Furmummy I really feel for you still having sickness. If it’s any motivation, I also struggled with the thought of moving off the sofa to get out but having done it, it definitely helped my mood even if it didn’t help the weight gain but I guess some exercise is better than none. Doesn’t help the weather has been so terrible and it’s so dark all the time! Good luck
