Maternity pay confusion?!!

Hello.

Hopefully this won't sound a bit stupid but I'm so confused with working out what maternity pay I would be entitled to.

I work part time and also have a small business (Etsy sales), would I still be eligible for statutory maternity pay or would I be classed as self employed? I do tend to earn more through my small business but this isn't consistent pay unlike my part time job.

Hopefully someone can help me with this!!! Thank you!!

Hey not much help sorry but i was working part time when preg and was eligible from goverment but not from by employer... you will have to fill a form in and it will ask you about other incomes so tell them what u get through etsy... is it a lot? I was able to get around £580 from the gov for working 16 hours a week and earning around £8000 per year x

I don't know if it's the same thing but I had two part time jobs when I went on Mar leave @jamontoastx so I got two lots of SMP! It was amazing!!

Hi @jamontoastx

I am assuming that you are self-employed as a sole trader and not as the director/owner of your limited company.

Provided you meet the earnings threshold, you will earn SMP from your job. This means that you then cannot earn Maternity Allowance from your business.

So you will earn only one "lot" of SMP from your job.

Hope this helps.
